Ultimately he got what he deserved. Made one big score and lost out on multiple future smaller scores. That mentality won’t take him far.tommymonza, clausland, dunchues and 1 other person Thank this. -
All I see are people who appose regulation when it benefits them yet for it because it also benefits them.
you can’t sit there and say it’s ok for a carrier to back solicit a shipper if the broker lied to the shipper but not ok for carrier to back solicit if the broker lied to the carrier.
Or the cdl industry needs to be regulated because to many are getting into it easily yet brokers shouldn’t because well their brokers.
some of you are against foreigners coming here on work visas to drive but against the idea of brokers being regulated.
you guys need to make up your minds you can’t be running around and saying death to regulation because I’m against it but more regulation when it hurts my bottom dollar.
Once again either all or none is the only way. -
I read through most of the crying, a few make sense while others just don't seem to get that it doesn't matter what the broker gets, if you had direct customers then there would be a rate reduction, not a rate increase. -
larry2903 and Midwest Trucker Thank this.

I remember specifically You, not too long ago, exactly crying here about Russians approaching your customers and trying to steal them from you. Tell me now, was their attempt deplorable (I think so) or admirable?
The same "crying" (in my view, peaceful discussion) here was related to brokers profiteering at the expense of owner operators ...and whether or not it should be stopped.
P.S.
Those in favor of not regulating brokers pay, should, by the same logic, say nothing negative about undercutting rates.Lite bug Thanks this. -
I’ve never complained about anyone cutting rates. It’s going to happen. When I hauled cattle we were at $4 and people were doing it for $3.80. If you prorate the weight over 50k someone comes along and won’t prorate until 55k. It’s business, it happens. Those guys don’t stick around long. So by your logic I am allowed to keep pointing out that crying for the government to regulate someone else’s pay/profit/cut while you yourself are supposed to be a “business owner” is a bad road to go down. Those that want it are shortsighted and aren’t thinking of the long term consequences to their short term solution.
wore out, Midwest Trucker and Rubber duck kw Thank this. -
But I will say, up until SD was deregulated in the 90’s a guy could make a good living being home every night and you didn’t need 13 axles or the ability to haul 1800 bushel to do it.wore out, Opendeckin and p608 Thank this. -

@Long FLD so your family was able to get an MC during regulation period but no one here on this board could get one if Deregulation had not occurred?
