Yeah I know the freezer and the microwave are prob going to become my best friends lol I'm thinking about salads.. and other things like that ... that are well easy and fast and just over all a good idea... i cant have crap all the time i have to think a little healthy too ^.^
but freezed food doesnt taste the same as just cooked food... fresh.. and nice you know what i mean?
i'm thinking of ways to be able to have cooked foods that i can just reheat so we can both eat good and have nice food... prob thinking about pasta with meat sauce... and salads... and arroz con pollo... and things like that which would be easy to put into containers... freeze and just make sure it doesnt go bad.. also though about maybe getting dry ice... it would hold up food longer and well temps are lower... so its a good idea to have for that... all i know is that i'm prob going to be cooking as much as possible and freezing things and trying to keep them well.. that way we both save $$... only prob is he is a picky eater... so I'm going to have to figure out dif foods for him and I... if i cook for myself I cant just leave him with no food lol he is my friend... he would kill me if i did >.< lmao just have to find the way to keep things well...
ummm now that i think about it... have any of you ever tried the whole.. dry ice idea i had? is that a good idea or should i start thinking about something else? >.<
just wondering lol sorry i know i keep asking a lot of questions on a lot of treads... hopefully you guys wont want to kill me by the time i learn and i'm out on the road lol >.<

George Forman, Electric skillet, toaster oven & crock pots are good to. And you can buy stuff on the road just park at the back of the stores and walk around the building.

Lets start at the beginning. You said you tend to over pack. Go read my packing list on page 17 here. It's from 30+ years of driving experience and should give you an idea. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ivers/16652-packing-list-for-students-17.html
About an inverter. If the company has an APU you won't need to buy one. Ask them if the APU's have the inverter. If so your problem is answered!
Now when you buy an inverter with all the things you want to run you're looking at a large one of at least 1800 watts and you still will not be able to run every thing at the same time. All electronics have on them somewhere the WATTS they use. My coffee maker pulled 990. My microwave was 850. Get the point?you don't want it to trip the built in circuit breaker and you especially don't want the one at the batteries to trip as that means you have to pull the cover off and push the button! Also inverters will come with little itty bitty jumper cables! WAIT till you get the truck before you get the inverter. Then go to a NAPA auto parts or a Farm store. Get a 20' 2 or 3 gauge jumper cable. Also and this is MOST important, get a 20 amp. RESETTABLE circuit breaker that will go on the positive side at the battery. If you go to NAPA they can even "sledge" the cable ends on for you that you need for a better fit. But you will need your inverter so you know what size terminals are on the back. some don't have them, just a hole for the cable to go in (the best) and the rest I believe are a 1/4 to 3/8" posts. You will cut the clamps off both ends of the cables, then on one end cut about 8-12 inches off of the positive side of the cable . You will put 1- 9/16" clamp on one end then what ever size that is on the circuit breaker on the other and the same for the short end of the main cable. then another 9/16 on the neg side. That's all there is to it!
Now you can go cheaper at a regular auto parts store but the clamps YOU have to "try" to sledge down for a good fit! Also ask how much the price difference is for welding cables. The reason you want 2 or 3 gauge cable is they carry DC power better than smaller sizes and wont over heat and the inverter will run better .
The best coffee maker I ever had was a Black and Decker Spacemaker. But I just looked at their web site and they really changed the #### things! Now it's all open and you can't set it on the counter. The reason I liked the Black and Decker was the pull out drawer for the water. you didn't have to move the stupid thing just to put water in it! My recommendation is make a wooden box to mount it in and set it wherever you want! I had mine in the Freightliner in the passenger side top closet box. just don't get in a hurry to pull the pot down and NEVER make coffee while driving! It WILL slosh out! Those DC coffee makers in the truck stops? A JOKE! Don't waste the money on them or any thing for cooking as it takes to long with DC power to cook unless you lik waiting for a crock pot!
Cooking in the truck. If it has a cloth upholstery and it's not your truck it's going to start to smell. The vinial isn't so bad as Mr Clean came out with a new product with frebreze in it and it smells great! Once a month all over will keep the build up down. The company might charge you for a total detail and not the usual hit and miss blow out most of these places do and call it clean and that could cost you hundreds! (I charge $500. for a total interior detail!)!
Now with all of these appliances you want to carry I'd forget the boyfriend! Yes FL has a lot of space but as you said you tend to over pack and most women do! Where is he going to put his stuff and himself? Rethink your strategy for a while until you get the kinks worked out. You might find that being locked in a closet with someone really isn't your cup of tea! Or that trucking isn't either.BiLLee and SilverDragon Thank this. -
LMAO thanks wow lots of information and very much appreciated it! i will look into all that and yes i thought about febreezing the thing as much as possible...
