I have been doing this now for 18 months, and have always been paid for my empty miles, so long as I follow the rules stated in the contract. Now since you do not state when you drove for them, your information is not current, and therefore it is misinformation, which so many disgruntled drivers love to spread.
Little John and JimTheHut Thank this. -
i leave for stevens on thursday, what is the first sign of a good trainer to go on the road with ?
-
Do you get a choice? I figured they just assigned you whoever and you tried to get along. Training isn't forever. Tough it out and try to get a person that agrees with your smoking preference. That seems to be the major argument with team drivers. Clean freaks are annoying too. At least the truck is clean though and you won't get sick.

you dont get a choice, you get assigned a trainer. a trainer can request you but it would have to be someone you know.
btw training isnt forever, remember you and your trainer are cooked-up in a closet for 5 weeks, try to make the most of it. -
Hello Stevens drivers i am interested in driving for Stevens and was wondering what kind of miles are you guys getting?
-
bgdaddy06, If you have a year or more experience you shouldn't be looking at Stevens, period. They are structured as a training company and experienced drivers can find better "everything" elsewhere.

Thanks a bundle for the info, as I am an ex-driver (10 mos. otr,10 yrs ago) that still has a CDL and is wanting to go back out on the road. I have applied with Stevens and have been called- and told that now there is a 30 month contract I have to sign or the training costs are to be repaid. Hmmm. I have applied at other companies as well.
Thanks again for the info. -
Well, I don't know... Just yesterday I spoke to a driver who drives for a different company. He said he was sitting in Laredo 4 days for free. Stevens at least pays layover.
So there goes "everything" is better elsewhere. -
What "training costs"? Are you talking about CDL school? Since you have CDL already it doesn't apply to you.
