I've moved on to a new company. I enjoyed my time with GTS, but i had to move on as the my paychecks were getting lower.

I've heard the same thing from the Bynum drivers I've talked too as well. We had a few drivers come from Bynum to GTS for that very reason.

The food grade tankers I know of in Winter Haven area are Oakley, GTS, Indian River, and Bynum.
I would go with GTS or Oakley

I worked there briefly. Low miles. Poor communication, unpaid layovers and detention. Trucks are all automatic with benndix system. Switching to Volvo’s tho for now still mostly 579’s. Low pay .48 cpm with.2cpm bonus. They have uniforms their strict about. Detention is unpaid first 4 hours then 10.00 ph after but good luck getting it. Home time is 1 day off per week out minimum 3 weeks out. Probably a good job for someone retired in their 60’s. Wasn’t for me. I moved on too far better hauling hoppers.

What was your average gross while you were there and how long did you stay out to get it?

I've only been with GTS for a month and like other types of trucking COVID-19 has negatively affected the freight here, so I don't have a clear picture of the salary at this point but I've still grossed over 1200 a week on average. I feel confident that the average will go up once production gets back to normal but until then this seems to be the temporary normal.

Thanks for the reply. $1200 isn't great, but that's about my threshold for doing OTR. If some of that is "tax exempt" per-diem then even better. Covid completely wiped out my local job, so really, any pay greater than unemployment has to be seen as a bonus.

You're welcome and my minimum for OTR tanker is $1500, but due to the circumstances surrounding most of trucking at the moment I can deal with $1200 at the moment. If my checks stayed at $1200 after the country opens up, I'm looking for another job. I'm not sure if GTS has a per diem plan as I'm not on one but I would definitely give them a call as they have seemed to be straight up people so far.

Never done tanker before, my OTR experience was dry van/reefer at 40 CPM so $1200 was not a bad week. GTS is on my short list of tanker companies I plan on applying to.

Oh okay, I see. Yes the tanker life is worlds different from dry van. If you dont go back to food service or LTL, I would definitely recommend going to a tanker company. I miss chemical tankers as I feel that they appreciate your time more than food grade tankers, but I still think both are a great option. I might go back to chemical tankers once things open up again.
