Meeting tomorrow for an interview at a cement plant. They’re gonna help me get my automatic restriction removed.

I am gonna have to get a class B permit. It’s been so long I’ve forgotten what parts to study. Can anyone give me some pointers?

Considering how difficult it is to get a Class A I suggest SERIOUS thought be given to NOT giving it up that easy. I understand the job situation.

I said I understood the job situation. I fully understand what the OP is facing. My point was to be 100% sure this is what you want to do. It's a snap to go from Class A to B but it is not all that easy to go back.
On that note, most all ready-mix companies do have cement trucks that are class A. I'm just saying, take a long look before giving up that class A.

Personally if the cement plant has stick shifts. There would be noo point to downgrade the license. Just get a week of practice, then if the DMV is open, use a company truck to show your competency.

I think your shooting yourself in the foot to downgrade. Removing the likelyhood of future employment.

I had the same situation. I went to a local community college. Trained for 4 hours. Retested for under 1k. It’s also cdl-a companies who have both who may work with you. I’d look at other options before dropping to a B. Cement trucks are seasonal work btw. So if you don’t mind sitting winter at home it might be ok.

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Never give up that class A, especially for a part time,
Never know when your gonna work,
Never know how many hours your gonna get,
Low pay, seasonal cement truck job.
    Don't be stupid.

You never know what kind of ########, the DOT
Can put in place at anytime, making it harder to
    Get a class A.
There's not a job in this country that I would drop
My class A, down to a class B for.
    That's going backwards.

I don’t know how I could get my manual endorsement without dropping to class B.
around here concrete is a full time job, contractors build constantly. I’ve seen them set up canopy’s to pour concrete.

they actually pay MORE then I was making OTR. They’re saying if I do the test in class B I can keep my class A bit local city License office says nope.

    No no no no no.

KEEP that stupid class A you can DRIVE ANYTHING except motorcycles.

The auto restriction can be worked around if you show up at a college truck couse and asked for a big truck and trailer with a manual in it to test. Either that or hire a trucking company truck and driver out to take to test.

The automatic restriction has to be the absolute stupid and worse case FUMBLE by all the states that rubber stamp such a flaming flagarant moronic crap. Whats next banned from driving a inch until your fever gets below 100.4? HA.

DO NOT downgrade that CDLA for a crappy B job that could put you back into unemployement and looking for mroe trucking work. Trucking is feast and famine. Never mind that stupid automatic.

FINALLY but not last. if the mixer company loves you very much, have them BUY you a automatic mixer. Problem solved.

You can downgrade easy, but getting that CDLA back? HA... good luck.
