Have 6 years experience, but only one year that's actually verifiable (and that was more than 5 years ago).
Most of the companies I've seen want verifiable 1 in 3 or 5 in 10 for experience.
Worked for an owner op who went out of business.
Currently yard/shuttle running.
Indianapolis area.
Would love to work local or dedicated, but I'm no dummy. Looks like I'll be starting from scratch.
Not worried about putting in the time with a less than stellar situation, just looking for some ideas in which way to lean.
All experience is running reefer loads.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Not a rook but on paper am super trucker with fingerless gloves.

@Chinatown can definitely help ya out. Just sit tight a little bit.
Chinatown and BreadMakesMePoop Thank this. -
I've been wanting to get back in but keep running into delays. Has given me time to think.
First decision to make is where you want to be in one to two years.
For me it's cryo/tankers or a good LTL.
Second, and here is where this board and people like @Chinatown can help, what job do you take now so the job you want wants you.
Good luck.Texas_hwy_287 and BreadMakesMePoop Thank this. -
Try Cordell Transportation in Indy.
Saw an ad a few months ago they have a "Trainee Program" and home daily/no-touch freight.
I don't know where the address or even remember where I saw the ad.
Just wrote it down in my notebook.BreadMakesMePoop Thanks this. -

Find out what direction you want to go then Speak to some companies and see what they say first. If you got some companies with yards by you I’d try to face to face em. They’re more likely to be straight up with you

I did a recent check against my records from the industry and it's blank. SSA and I hold lifetime work record but since its been over a decade as a medical sugical patient there is nothing. So if and when I get back into this its going to be as a flat newbie fresh from high school. The situation that I understand trucking will become VERY apparent to anyone in a hell of a hurry. The problems lie more towards ELD learning and qualcomm mini windows, some of which I have studied already. (And logging)
The rest of it is not going to be a problem. It holds no mystery, allure or attraction where I am late in life. However there is one big issue. I have been too much like a Toro Maverick too long so being lassoed into a suited land of corporate crap would be very difficult indeed. Fortunately I have several open offers and get into it very easily with a minimum of that.
My example to you is that anyone can do trucking early, late or if they never did it a all. No problems.
The Industry has too many... hoops like a Barnum Bailey Circus, have the poor idiot drivers jump, stoop, run over and through all sorts of BS before they are dispatch on a solo run. Its excessive and it only hurts the industry at large. If you told me I needed to be in Little Rock to load for Memphis to deliver in detriot Saturday am right now with 20 dollars and a fuel card, Im gone. Its going to be in detriot at sat sunrise. Easy peasy. No stress.BreadMakesMePoop Thanks this.
