I recently bought a truck and wanted the salesman to bring it to my parking place, then I was going to bring him back in my car.. He said they couldn't do it because the dealership wouldn't allow him to ride with anyone. They were solving that problem by hiring out of work school bus drivers to deliver trucks. A driver followed me and his buddy followed him.
So... try calling a local dealership to ask how they are handling truck deliveries. It might not cost that much.Changenme Thanks this. -
First shes going into her own shop. It's a huge shop. She will be out of the weather. Then I will go through her. Fix what's needed to be fixed. Learn her.
So after that , hopefully I will have decided what to do with her. I dont want her to sit and rot. Shes a tough truck. I think she deserves to run.kemosabi49, okiedokie and rachi Thank this. -
His wife was angry that they wouldn't hire her as they didn't consider her AG experience suitable for DOT work.
she figured she had more miles backing up a milk tanker than most DOT guys had going forwards...Cattleman84, Changenme and rachi Thank this. -
Sorry about your husband.
I would just look for someone to haul it to you, having someone driving it isn't a problem but if ... just if something happens like a breakdown or even a flat tire, it can turn into a nightmare for all involved. -
I went to work with my husband a lot. He could back an end dump in the craziest places. First try. I remember thinking that it would take me a month of sundays! Then I got my horse trailer. After a week I was no longer scared of getting trapped where I couldnt just pull out of. Now I can wing a ding my horse trailer anywhere backwards!. Now my quad trailer, well I still unhook it Put it where I want it and rehook!!! .lol that lil trailer will jackknife on me if I wink an eye! Fickle lil thing.lol I have heard job guys complaining that no one knows how to back up. They would pull my husband out of line to get him in the hard areas. Because he could back up. I can only hope one day to be able to back up like him.
They should have hired her! I bet she could back up better than my husband !wis bang Thanks this. -
backing requires practice, constant use to keep it sharp too, otherwise you can get real rusty.
Short trailers are the hardest. Drove a one ton stake body made into a construction fuel truck capable of moving the companies office trailers.
The boss often asked me to re-locate a small air compressor to the next site I was going to fuel.
All I could see was the exhaust rain cap in the interior rear view mirror [which was otherwise useless] and it got to the point where I could back them up by watching the rain cap.
45 years later; I look like a rookie with my new [to me] boat trailer...I can handle the ramps but jacking it into the driveway past my wire's car is at least one more pull-up than it should be...Changenme Thanks this. -
My dodge pickup reg cab, I could hook up trailer ,gooseneck, first try. Even at an angle if needed. Now my ford pickup ,4 door. It's a challenge . I cant see hitch. Takes a couple tries and me jumping out and looking. Yet it is new to me, I'm sure I'll figure out ,soon.
My dads pickup has the camera. I call cheats ! Lol . Hes earned it though.
The car trailer, dad said I'm too careful driving it. Lol. The only reason is I cant find it. Only reason I know it's there is when it bounces and makes noise, if empty. I can back that one up ok if something is on it so I can see it.
Dad asked me how will I back up or tow a trailer with the pete. I replied, have you seen those trailers? You know where they are ! They are huge. Lol
I saw a guy back up belly dumps. Not far, but I was impressed. I couldnt imagine having to back up doubles .
