uh, that's not how it works. They were partying, not protesting. You can't claim to be protesting when you get called out for breaking the law/rules. Whether we like it or not, the ranger was doing his job. His job is to enforce such things.
(bold is from me, to separate from rest of my post)
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. - Source : First Amendment
You'll forgive me if I put more faith in the actual amendment, an law school over..some fella on the internet who thinks drinking with your buddies is a legit protest.
Here's the part you should've read and understood from the article..
The group was unlawfully drinking and smoking in the public park, as well. That isn't a protest. It's called...hanging out with your friends smoking an drinking an thinking your better then everyone else. You think I want to be restricted to what I do or live my life? I'm sure the majority of folks would love to go about their lives.
Far as condoning or blaming the ranger....pretty lazy. Dude is doing his job. When your upset with the local police do you go out an put hands on them? Act like a ####ing adult. There was no need to attack the guy. Make your excuses all you want, there was no good reason to lay hands on the ranger. Even the suspects friends thought he was an idiot for it.
“The patrons of the park actually came to the aid of the park ranger,” Berry said. “Several people came up to the ranger and apologized for the guy’s behavior. That’s the Austin we know, and that’s the Austin we love.”
An then people wonder why law enforcement of all kinds responds first with tasers an guns. Stupid #### like this.
I'm far from a defender of law enforcement, but the guy didn't do anything to deserve all this. Idiot who pushed him is going to learn karma is one mean ##### when she comes looking for you.
Guns and stuff - I like my 2nd amendment. Keep your hands off. I'm legal, I'm sane, and I'm going to protect my home an family whether my fellow citizens, government, or anyone else says. Don't like it...don't try to harm me or mine, or steal my stuff, or come on my property. Otherwise...enjoy your life, and I'll enjoy mine.
I respect everyone's opinion on such issues, til they try to force their views on me. Your view on politics, guns, religion whatever..are yours. I don't want them to be mine. So kindly stay the hell out of my business.
All you's are general.
An I agree with the disgruntled Canadian. It was ########, sneaky, and underhanded. Sounds like ya'lls PM has been learning from our politicians. An that is a shame.
On a slightly humorous note...Canadian protestor..

There is already murder in Arkansas this past week. Including a couple of minor children by gun among other things.
When Arkansas was enduring occupied Federal Troops during reconstruction gun fights among Little Rock residents were the order of the day. Some of our more obscure laws date to that era.
Baltimore again is considered occupied city, if you consider the armor at Hopkins and other intersections combined with real time surveillance above which has been known for years. 1968 three divisions were sent into Baltimore whcih was deemed a rebellious city to be quelled and subdued to restore order. And so it was for a week. One of the big reasons that the people submitted was there was bad shortage of orange juice and other food items for the children who were not getting what they needed for that long. So the citizens resorted to theft and stealing to make it happen for every block. We personally were outside the city during the fighting. When it was all over large sections of say North Ave is grass lots to this day.
The covid was a scary problem and it is absolutely a killer. If it did not kill you it damaged you where it counts in the lungs. Maybe take 20 years off your life right there. Weed out the rest of the weaker population. Bless them. Buried our funeral homes in rotting dead and so on. Some states like ours we made do. Its not fun but we made do. Eventually everyone more or less beyond a certain age is like eff the covid, Im going shopping at the mall and so they opened it two days ago. In a few more days we get to do more things.
Essentially liberty. Or Freedom. One hand taketh away the other gives. We should never have lost it. However all that is going to choke the courts for a thousand years. And so it will.
The law? We hardly see hide or hair of them. There is almost no need for them staying under the rock as we were. They are around however. Ambulance has to run. Where they go the law goes. I hear people talking. IF they got sick and isolated at the hospital or the VA and their families not allowed to have caregiving or support at all. Death by television or video tape. They decided that its not worth it. Choke it out in a few minutes and die at home in bed. None of that 150,000 gold plated medical billing that will ruin the estate.
I hate to be difficult. But you can only as they say abuse a dog only so long before it bites back properly. And here we are. Difficult? Hell yes. But this is just the beginning if we do not get this Nation going asap. as in really going where it was 7 weeks ago. -

I went back and reread your post. You stated that we need a civilian force akin to minute men like back in the revolutionary war. Then you went on to say that gun ownership will help maintain order.
Too many people think that the minute men/militias were self organized and supplied when in fact the local town/county were responsible. If things get so bad that the national guard can't maintain control, an individual with weapons will not be able to do much.
I have no problem with gun ownership, I just get tired of "my guns protect your liberty" type arguments.

Was the year I was born so....anyway Alberta will never get a fair shake from the powers that be.Flint1 Thanks this.
