I need to know if Swift has a policy about having to many jobs. If any current drivers can help me it would be very much appreciated. I"ve been driving for 17 years, I just do what eveybody else does look for something better when there really isnt anything better.
Does Swift have a to many jobs policy?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Can you reword your question? I work for Swift so I'll help if I can.
-
Like if I had say 10 jobs in the last 5 years would that disquilify me from getting hired.
-
Nana-what part of Tx are you out of?
-
Ohhhhh
Yeah they'll look at it closely. Frankly right now most of the hiring areas for Swift are not hiring experienced. Your best option is to contact a recruiter in your area and talk to him/her. They mainly only hire newbies out of their own schools and a very FEW rehires.
Good luck to ya! -
I live and run out of the Phoenix AZ area. I just can't bring myself to remove TX as my location. I've never lived outside of Texas till this year. We women are so weird. lol But if you're asking where I was raised.......central TX. -
I was asking because I am in San Antonio. I am considering Swift and I was wondering if you ever run thru this area because I see TONS of Swift trucks on the highways around here. I was wondering how often I would get home or in the vacinity.

Thanks Nana. I was just curious, I have a perfect mvr not so good work record...lol

I shall tell you the truth about hometime no matter who you drive for. If you drive OTR......you will go where there is freight. Trucking is dependent on freight. It's not dependent upon drivers, driver managers, fleet managers, promises, school recitals, birthdays, doctor apts or child birth. Trucking is dependent on freight. If there is no freight from where you are to where you want to be.......you aren't going where you wish to be. period. If you have a good dm she/he will try for you but you can pretty much count on getting home a day or two late. lol
The recruiter will lie to you, the instructor will lie to you, heck your dm will lie to you and they'll all say you just need to tell them it's a dr's apt or important. It is a lie. You will not go there unless there is freight.
Currently Swift has a 3 week policy...in that they want their drivers home every 3 weeks and you can only take 3 days hometime. The problem with that is if they don't get you home for an extra week......you lose that week's day of hometime. I don't know how it's working......we left OTR for a dedicated fleet. -
Um, not technically, but I'm sure right now they aren't even looking to hire a 10 year driver, so I doubt it would even be a factor in the decision.
Here's what I would think though, and I apologize if you don't agree.
If you have changed jobs 10 times in 5 years, it shows that, typically (not always), an employee has issues with either; attendance, authority, or commitment, or that they are trying to avoid something or someone. One thing that they would definitely look at would be if you were still employed by the last company and left to go to the next after working a notice.
While it may seem mundane, it shows that you respect the company that you work for and that you are trying to give them advance notice and the opportunity to fill your position while trying to make it as convenient as possible to them.
If you're a driver (like you stated), then looking at a 10 year driving record it would make me wonder, "Now, why would this guy start at the bottom, switch companies so many times over 5 years, and then come back to the same introduction companies that they started from?". If you never worked a notice, I would toss the application into the trash and never look at it again.
Well, hmm, I've had a good experience so far, but I guess I can't compare to the length of time you've been doing this. I think good things exist everywhere if you know where to look.
