Hello all, I m chasing a whining sound which I can't find
Symptoms, whining sound ( like sound from speakers) is coming from right side or front of Cat C15 Acert MXS sound can clearly heard after quick throttle like sound is followed by rpm , less on idle more sound on rpm.
What I did.... Cat house and local mechanic pointed turbo and I changed it mounted on exhaust manifold side 10R2407 sound came back
Took both belts replaced idler no change.
No exhaust leak but changed Flex pipe next to turbo , no change.
No codes no power issues , rebuilt in October 2019
What you guys advice Thanks in advance

Spray everything with windex and have someone watch for bubbles when u rev in up. Boost leaks are a very annoying variety of sounds. The throttle delay coincides with a rise in boost and thus leakage.

Just a thought ...
If you bring the revs up is the sound delayed ramping up with you coming off the throttle being delayed going down?
Turbos spool up and down, so it is a way to rule out turbos and boast components.W903B and Deere hunter Thank this. -
Turbo’s whine so do drivers, wives ,children and mostly politicians. If you figure out how to stop the whining or where it’s coming from please let us know!!
sarcasm
but I’m betting it’s still your turbo. I’ve changed turbos many times still whining .W903B and FoolsErrand Thank this. -
Check all the bellows for cracks, sometimes they can be very hard to see.

Thank-you all , yes the noise is delayed like echo from revs/acceleration, so 1 turbo is changed I need to change the second one which is way more expensive 1888
Deere hunter Thanks this. -
I feel when truck is cold there is more noise like oooowww crying , can it be internal engine components , coz it's recently rebuilt and I can't afford another head

Driver, stop buying parts. Buy a good mechanic and only replace precisely what has failed after its been verified as the issue. It may be a $30 silicone boot or band clamp that youre throwing turbos at.
W903B and Deere hunter Thank this.
