It’s been a few years since I had to order my own permits but I used to use AXYS Permits. They are an all female company and I never had a problem with their service. One thing that I appreciated was that they had girls all across the country so that would extend their business hours

You can get an account with most states. You need to have Ohio and Louisiana added as a certificate holder with your insurance.
I've found most states you can get your own permit in less than 30 minutes.

With the internet, it has become real easy to get your own.
    Good luck.

User666, alds and cke Thank this.

We've used these guys for the majority of our permits. Very good and easy to deal with.

X2 for permit wizard. Their fee is $17 for each state. You can do individual states yourself, but I don't want to waste time doing each one. One application and they file with all the different states. To each his own but it's worth it to me.

I will also say that in many cases it's good to save a few bucks and get directly from the state you need. On trips through multiple states it is nice, and in my opinion worth the fees, to have a permit service make sure the routing works from one state to the next. Many times there will be a restriction right at or close to a state line where you can get hung with a useless permit because you cannot enter the next state where you want to.
