So I was talking to a another truck driver today and he was telling me about something called kratom,I was wondering if any of you guys take it for energy or pain treatment? I have severe back pain occasionally and I'm looking for something natural to help.

I don't know about using this.
Kratom is a tropical tree (Mitragyna speciosa) native to Southeast Asia, with leaves that contain compounds that can have psychotropic (mind-altering) effects. Photo by DEA. Kratom is not currently an illegal substance and has been easy to order on the internetNavigatorWife Thanks this. -
It is questionable. Several states have banned the product. The FDA has several warnings and it is also on the confiscation list for imports. There is also an effort to place it on the schedule 1 list.
No true clinical studies of it effectiveness have been done, so little data is available.
I would say the recommendation is not to use it at this time.JSanborn103, JReding, Tb0n3 and 3 others Thank this. -
I can tell you that I take it for RLS instead of the Tramadol I was taking for it. It helps. I take it in capsule form not powder. It is 35.00 for a bag of 100. I take 3-5 pills in the evening depending on how my RLS is doing that evening. I will tell you it does have withdrawal effects like RLS if you go off of it cold turkey. But so does Tramadol. Not taken it for pain, personally. But it is a great OTC/DOT physical way to deal with my RLS.

Pot is legal in some states, but still not legal for truck drivers.Gearjammin' Penguin, tscottme, NavigatorWife and 5 others Thank this. -
It’s unregulated. You never know what you’re getting. That’s a definite no. You could be fine for awhile , then one time get something that will make you pop hot.
plus, I know a couple people first hand that had a hard time stopping it. A couple people is an INSANELY small sample size , so take that for for it’s worth. Just relaying personal experiences that’s allNavigatorWife and InTooDeep Thank this. -
