Yeah those Super sleeper trucks are usually super expensive!!!! So I think that’s a great deal for the chassis. Even at 20k. At a million miles, your looking at maybe, driveline, u joints and yokes, maybe a clutch, maybe front suspension springs and pins. But if it’s in your budget and your optimistic about your freight for the next year, then yeah!!!! Those trucks would be amazing to live / work out off.
now to that D16 to D13 motor swap... I’m not sure if that would require different harness’ or what. But if the drive line and everything looks good and you got your motor swap figured out, I don’t think a sleeper of that size will come on the market that cheap again for a while. Tires look good too, and it’s got an Onan generator system it looks like!
this is my opinion
Need input guys

I once drove a international eagle type tractor with sleeper that had millions (Plural) on it.
What a experience that was. A engine that shook itself apart on every rev and noises like a rotating bucket of bolts in the transmission. The free play in the splines and ring gears had to be experienced to believe.
She ran ok. For a multimillion truck. I did not get the job, they were using a original computer tracking between say Baltimore to Norfolk in 5 hours and 8 minutes expected of all drivers for trips there for example. I refuse to have that kind of precision. -
HoneyBadger67, AModelCat, Deere hunter and 1 other person Thank this.

Grab it.
I would tie the truck up with a non-refundable deposit to get the owner to hold it.
And then offer $17k to start with and see where it goes.
Here is why...
If the sleeper is in good shape, the sleeper is worth more than the truck.
I have two ari sleepers, 120" and 144" and the teams love them, they were not cheap.
You can have them moved to another chassis.larry2903, HopeOverMope, TheLoadOut and 4 others Thank this. -

Rite, salvage trucks are less than 5, if it's not running, that is what it is
, transmission, rears. What else is wrong with it.If you got 30 $ go to an auction, at least it will run -
Take my advise with a grain of salt and look or ask Who welded the frame?
-
I say go for it, you have the extra motor. Talk him down though. Live your dream.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
They have trouble financing a truck like that,so cash is king . Lay 15k cash on the salesman desk and wait for his answer, he starts rasing the price bag up your cash.
I would bring the truck home and pull the sleeper and put it on a pre emissions truck.201, HopeOverMope and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
Rideandrepair and TheLoadOut Thank this.
