Please tell me how many 2018 type years there have been for drivers? If this were a game that went in circles. It would be a merry go round twisting at a high rate of speed. Where truckers try to jump on but most times just end up scrapping their knees getting dragged around. Brokers weren't going into the poor house during 2018. Instead of gashing the rate for 60% they were taking a lower % and still making money.

2018 was an anomaly and it will continue to be that way. 10 years from now people will still be regurgitating 2018 as if it happens all the time.

This reminds me of Clarence from Coming to America. "Oh, there they go! There they go! Every time I start talking about brokers, somebody gotta pull 2018 outta their ###! That's they one! That's they one!"

I guess it just depends on who you know and work with. I’m fortunate enough that I work with a great group of people and we seem to regularly have good freight. Even right now during these crazy times we’re still doing good.

The thing about years like 2018 isn’t that truckers are getting rich, it’s that everybody who ever spent 2 seconds thinking about getting a truck gets a truck and authority and hits the load boards.

Should brokers be allowed to regulate what a carrier makes?

Well your not one crying out 2018 either. I would guess over the past 43 years you haven't been living off of brokers.

I haven't dealt with a broker since my last load a strawberries in 06 out of Salinas, but even then it wasn't a spot market deal and i did well.

I just know plenty of my fellow drivers don't have what i have and many brokers regulate the market that should be doing well enough for those guys too, aside from the current disaster happening.

    No. No. No. No. No.
    Of course not.
    What an idea?!
    Absolutely not!
    They would screw us bad!
Brokers and carriers should play 5-minute chess game for every load there is and whoever wins, gets to say what the rate is. That should work just fine.
