I used to have quick drain valve installed , after about a year i had a leak around oil pan gasket, took it in shop, they removed the oil pan to replace gasket. They found a thick layer deposit of egr soot or dirt on the bottom, i was told possible because the cross section of quick drain valve is way smaller than oem plug. I don't know how vacuum draining works, i guess sticks a hose through oil filling tube it oil level check, i believe won't drain properly the bottom dirt deposits.

I always smile when I read or hear guys talk about “quick drain”. Not sure where the name came from, but every one I have ever saw is a “mess free”. There’s nothing quick about them.

This is true. I noticed a big difference in the time to drain before and after I installed one.
I've wondered if there maybe an issue with incomplete drains. Haven't confirmed it though.

Avoid KW saskatoon as well, terrible shop. They'll charge you for a job and not even do it....like say change an injector!

I never pay anyone to change my oil, mind you I'm kinda hard core at times. when I changed my oil this February in Yellowknife NWT at -45 instead of paying someone to do it, I cant afford that ####.

I use to be the same, but for $280? After buying the oil filters and grease I might save $40 doing it myself, my time is worth more than $40.

I agree. I changed my own oil for many years but not anymore.By the time you pickup everything you need and then there is the hassle of getting rid of the used oil it's just not worth it anymore.

Sure you might only save $40 or so but who typically does oil changes at a shop? The young and/or inexperienced. There's something to be said for being able to look over your own rig. You care about your iron. The guy spinning filters doesn't.
