You’re supposed to paint the old ones, white or grey, hang them in the laundry room, or black, silver or red, and hang them in the garage.

Oh yea, nice touch on the different heights. Makes crown molding a challenge, if using it, but can be done.

I always hated doing the up-down/in-out with the cabinets. Big PITA. I charged extra labor, but I would try to deter my customers from doing it by planting seeds in their heads. Biggest concern was that a 15” deep cabinet above a microwave/hood unit resulted in the exhaust or steam blowing directly on the bottom of the doors. Finish problems down the road.

Thankfully, it played itself out 10 years ago, at least around here.

I did the 42” on the corner Lazy Susan w/ garage. Looks good up higher, but crown molding already being expensive pita is a nightmare. A shelf, turning moldings in is possible. Still haven’t done it, Lol. Probably pay a finish Carpenter to do it someday. Mounding is very expensive from Cabinet makers. Can’t afford a mistake. It’s fun designing kitchens, so many possibilities.

Current cabinets are built in. Heck the backs are simply the kitchen wall painted to match the inside. Plywood sides and face frame is all that there is to them. I would love to be able to put them in the garage, but not meant to be.

Can't stand crown molding. I actually pulled down the crown molding around the perimeter of the kitchen to find a previous owner put up a second sheet of sheetrock and didn't mud in the corners. Just a bit more work to do, nothing major just been 20 years since I did any mudding work and I hated it then. I'll likely farm it out to a drywall guy.

And here is a mockup of what I'm doing. Kitchen is fairly small in an L shape. One wall is 120" and the other is 93". I'm going to put a shelf above the window to bridge the low cabinets so the wife has a shelf to put her dust collectors up there. Tea pots in her case.

when is crown molding NOT a challenge? Lol. I did it in one bedroom and decided to add that to the list of things I’ll pay someone to do. My list is electric (scares the crap outta me), gates (frustrates me) , and crown moulding (confuses me) lol

Well, "only" 2 cabinets came damaged. Time to call customer service and see what's next.
And I'm not sure I can even blame Central. The cabinet company had these two hanging off the pallet so of course a fork truck driver tapped a corner.

Oh well, time to see how good customer service is.
