We all know the firearm debate is on a lot of people’s minds and can definitely get a driver in a pot of hot water especially in areas like Chicago. I think every driver should have some form of protection with them but for someone like me I’m not legally able to own a firearm and never will. Yes I’m a FELLON oh boy run for the hills . Non violent , no drugs . Stupid teenager (19) taking and driving without owner’s consent. Means I can not legally own or possess a firearm for the rest of my natural life
My next best option is sharp things , I do have a appreciation for high quality knives , small to large , made in the USA knifes. Anyone else carry blades? I don’t think anyone would blink at a typical pocket knife but I have a apperception for fixed blade 5-6 inch knives . I would hate to carry something of quality for protection and have my boss get a call how they are freaked out this guy walked in with a knife hanging off his belt . Even if I left it in the truck (defeats the purpose) someone might still loose their mind over a empty Sheath .
Carrying protection , knifes

Unfortunately yes , I refuse to be at the mercy of someone else’s “protection” . Like one officer told me “call us and hope for the best in the meantime” when I asked about having a firearm just for home protection, “we better not see it and you sure the hell better not use it”

Carry a crow bar in the truck and when you are doing a pre/post trip insp thump tires with it. Pepper spray where legal, use your fire extinguisher to spray criminals in the face.

Flatbedders winch bar (with the optional snap binder end) will definitely leave an impression on a skull. Legal carry in all trucks, classified as a tool.
BFH. Big freaking HAMMER! Also legally a tool. useful for both up close and personal or throwing. 3 lb. sledge recommended.
Old school MagLite. Sturdy enough to bust bones without taking damage. Classified as a tool.
$10 roll of quarters in a closed fist. Classified as laundry money.
The options for self defense are limited only by imagination and how much damage you want to cause. Firearms are too easy to use, and to hard to defend the use of in many states. Melee mode is actually easier to defend as self defense in many cases.Bean Jr., DistantTimbersEcho, booley and 4 others Thank this. -

The problem with even remotely physical protection like that is it takes a more physically fit person, that doesn't describe your average truck driver.mpd240 and skinnytrucker79 Thank this.
