    Odd.

Another thing... this is my opinion and how I treat my fleet. Not looking to offend you in any way. 25K for an oil change seems a bit high. I do 15K at most.

Have you done an oil analysis lately?

Volvo recommends 25 (50 for the first 5 years)
i did do an oil test, no contaminants found, no shavings.

At 25K should be fine with the oil change intervals, what happens when the truck is warmed up and try to do a compression test with computer see what comes out, even if something was bad it would shut off the truck, the other thing i could suggest is truck to change the breather assy sometimes the fan inside will get sruck and cause the cranckcase pressure to come up shutting down the truck, is everything original on the truck as far as filters and all go, if not when was it bypassed, ive seen them brake pistons because of bad bypass and will have close symptoms to what you are describing, i still would no condemn the top end just yet volvo does't have a habit of messing up rings mainly they like to break the valves but if it was a valve you would have a fault come up for turbo almost right away and engine would run like ####.

The top end was done because of a broken valve. Head and Turbo both replaced.
everything is original. i’m doubting it’s rings, because with broken rings oil would get past and enter the combustion chamber which would cause severe smoke out the stacks, i have no smoke out the stacks, only under engine at the blow by tube.

when they did the top end did they check if the valve hit the piston, make most of the time it hits and people miss a crack of something small and then this #### happens. what state is the truck anywhere near il

it burnt out on the top and was stuck in the open position. luckily it never dropped, so no dmg to the piston.
it’s in North Central, IN (near South Bend)

In this regard... remove the hose from the assembly before replacing the unit and see if the truck will run and shut off. You can eliminate that issue maybe. If it’s off the assembly, no pressure is being pushed up. @Caspers Ghost

If you have PTT... this is how the pressure test is done. @Caspers Ghost

Which assembly are you referencing? The oil separator?

I have TEXA from Diesel Laptops. it should also do compression tests.

Nasriza mentioned that the CCV fan might be pushing pressure to the engine and making it shut off. There is a hose that comes to the CCV from the top of the engine. Drivers side. Take the hose off at the CCV and try running the engine. Idea is to remove the CCV from the loop and see if it’s defective or not.

Those CCVs are annoying. They leak, seep, clog, not run right.... I cleaned two of mine with brake cleaners and put new seals on them.
