There is a huge difference between SHOWING it for verification, and COPYING, or otherwise recording it? That's what I have a problem with, letting people who don't know me and don't have a valid legal reason to capture my information to use in any way....

Again, just giving a potential reason for the policy. Not saying I agree/disagree/anything.
Personally, I worry more about data breaches than security logs. -
I wonder how we can track the people who have had the ability to make copies of our ID's? How would they react when we asked to take a picture of THEIR ID?
It's the same thing.... you can copy mine if I can copy yours..... -

Because, to be honest after a (very) short search it seems like it's not illegal. It's recommended not to give it out of course, but it's also not illegal for a company to ask.kylefitzy Thanks this. -
