The stress caused by that ain’t worth it. I will gladly run 65 and yield speed down to 60 or less if needed to allow someone to pass and get out of the way and for me to not have to be in running in a pack of cruise riding zombies. These guys engines are putting out 200 more hp’s and 1200 ftlbs more torque than my old stuff but I have no problems getting back up to the flow.
It’s not about running on the governor all the time to get somewhere efficiently. After they are on blood pressure meds and stressed to heart attack status they will finally understand and figure it out. Lol!

I could give a flying f'k who passes me, if they want to pass I'll slow down a bit, no skin off my nuts.

If I have to slow down 5 mph and follow a slower vehicle until I can pass safely, still no skin off my nuts, even if it's for an hour, I'm only losing 5 minutes.

If you have anxiety issues or lack patience or are anal retentive then GTF off the road because you're a danger to society.
As for dispatchers and other assorted slime who may be pushing you, f'k them too!

If a truck attempted a pass in the left lane, but could not pull ahead and couldn’t pass, he would be the loser. If the truck being passed decides not to back out gets passed, he is the loser. Like a real drag race...at the end of the mile, whoever has their front bumper ahead is the winner.

If you don’t want to race, all you have to do is back down a few mph. And of course, to make it interesting for the traffic backed up behind them, we could figure out a way to make some side bets.

I can guarantee you that the company you work for is dispatching you with more than enough time to make pickups/deliveries.

It has been a long time since I've worked for a company with governed trucks but when I did loads were dispatched at like 40-45mph. That leaves plenty of time. Highly doubt companies with 65 mph trucks are dispatching folks at a rate of 60-65 mph or anywhere near it, as the service failures would be through the roof.

I would also bet a lot of money that during orientation the company you're employed by recommend running a few mph under the governed speed so that when it comes time to make a pass, you are able to do so in a safe/timely fashion without needing a 10 mile stretch of open road to do so.

YOU are the one that decided to drive a governed truck, governed trucks do not belong in the left/center lanes. The only Time those window lickers get around me is In construction zones because they are too stupid to do anything but hold the pedal flat and point the wheel.

Good analysis of the economy cruise setting in the Freightliner. I call that the Lolly Gag Mode. However, if you keep the "gas pedal" mashed while the cruise is set it will behave differently. With the pedal mashed the cruise will do its best to keep the selected speed. It behaves more like an analog cruise from the old days. On some of my trips I spent 90% of my 11 hours with my foot holding the pedal down.

Taking a break gets you away from THAT truck you've been following, but the roads are lousy with fleet trucks doing about 65 mph. Within 10 miles you'll have the same issue with another truck. Not all of us have the luxury of driving west of I-35 with less traffic density, or owning the truck and having no governor, or of only picking trips with only 10 or less driving hours per day.

The dispatcher virtually plans my day and if I'm lucky he'll let me know before he goes home. You know dispatchers that don't look at a map, they just divide the mileage by the truck's top speed and if it only requires 10:53 of driving the dispatch is sent.
