I recently had an Autoshift 10 speed three pedal converted to a manual 10 speed. Everything is working, however there are couple of things I am not happy about.
    1. The shifter is not staying in the middle in neutral, it's just laying all the way to the left. The shifter tower and bushing are new. I was told detent balls and springs need to be checked and they are under the top plate. Does transmission need to be dropped to get in there?
    2. The shift pattern is like this

Is it possible to do something to have it in the regular pattern?

I believe to change the shift pattern the entire gearbix would have to be rebuilt, to move the gears around... If it is even possible.

Pretty sure you would need a whole different gearbox, and I can about guarantee it's cheaper to get a different tyranny with shift pattern you want than to have somebody trying to switch stuff around.

I did the same swap with an 18 speed I had to replace the shift top or top plate whatever you want to call it. Otherwise it would have had a funky shift pattern

I like that rto 10, big hole against the dash pattern.
Think it would make the 5-6 upshift better..

There's 2 different shift bar styles typically used on Eatons. One uses a bellcrank-style link on the leftmost rail in order to reverse the direction of the shift fork. That gives you top gear to the back vs at the dash.

Also, any Eaton manual transmission I've had opened up, the 1st/R fork had a detent in it. Never had an auto transmision apart so not sure if they have the same fork or not.

RTOX denotes a Road Ranger, Twin Counter Shafts, O/D ( in the front box ) with a top plate that has the shift pattern you desire. The top plate would have to be replaced.
Springs and balls are under the shift tower held on by four bolts.
The first and reverse shift rail yoke has its own detent requiringing a little extra pressure to pull the lever from 2/7, 3/8 neutral to the left. If that is not working you need to take it back for warranty.
That repair most likely requires pulling the top plate. That can be done in some trucks but not many.

Drove an 8 sp. RTO years ago, it actually is a very good pattern. At one time they were very common in the construction/dump truck business, been away from one of those nearly 20 yrs and I still miss using those.

In case someone will be looking for this.
I had another truck converted and this time a different top plate was installed.
The shift pattern is just like on a regular 10 speed and the lever stays in neutral the way it's supposed to be.
The shop what did the conversion on the first truck just didn't do a very good job
