Paccar MX13 idling

Regardless of the oil getting to the top of then engine or not being true or not, the bigger reason I know of is to prevent dpf buildup by keeping the exhaust hotter so less soot builds up.

 

First thing to find out is if setting the idle up in the “pto” mode cancels the engine’s ability to preform auto regen’s. If it does I would suggest not idling it up, and letting it do its own thing.

 

2018, Pete 579, paccar engine, 291000. (previously multiple Def codes). After my last visit to the Pete shop(Def dpf codes) in Nashville (great job), I've stopped dead idling and if I have to idle for AC, bump it up to 1100 to 1300 rpm. That was April 2020, this is September 2020, dpf Def issues have been zero. Knock. Knock. Knock

 

2019 389 mx13 245k miles shop just sent my truck to the dealership to bake the filter as a precaution. Since then if I low idle the truck the warning lights come on and I can not get it to regen with the switch, brakes set, cruise and jakes off, at temp... nothing works so I set the cruise and bump it up to 1050 rpm after about 15 minutes tge lights go off i turn off the cruise and it lowers the rpm to 900 and finishes a regen by itself. Hope it helps someone else, I stumbled onto it by just trying things until I found something that works.
