UPS requires two years, though.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

I wouldn't say "most." But a lot of them. For instance, ABF would not be to your liking on linehaul, but it could work on P&D. You'll have plenty of options. Dayton is a good choice if they're in your area. FedEx Freight. UPS Freight, though I believe they're maybe on call in the beginning. Look around. LTL can be a good career.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

I drive for UPSF. They hired a couple guys at my terminal out of truck driving school for linehaul positions.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

I was talking about small package. I'm not sure about UPS Freight.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

You might as well wait. I made the jump from US Foods to FedEx Freight with just under a year of experience, but because it was less than a year I had to go through their whole driver training program like I didn’t even have my CDL yet. It was easy as hell, but it took close to 2 months and it was at a lower pay rate.
Something to keep in mind if you do eventually go with FedEx Freight: Linehaul drivers are required to do dock work on shorter runs, and Atlanta has a lot of those, so you’d be stuck doing that for a few years. I’m talking like less than 50 miles to the hub, work the dock for 5-6 hours, then 50 miles back to your home terminal. It still pays a decent amount (and an absurd amount at the top of the pay scale), but driving a forklift more than a truck is a dealbreaker for some.Texas_hwy_287 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
Central Freight is always hiring, witch is a bad sign. They are a pretty crappy outfit. But they will hire you with 7 months exp
