Shootings are up lately.
Been watching since it zeroed on Jan 1 2020, 225 to 250 incidents during any 72 hour period, recently over 300 in same time span.
Excluding suicides, just deaths and injuries, there's about 17,000 incidents this year of which about 500 are defensive use, of which many are cross referenced and show up as accidental or other as well.

These stats are like asking AAA how many flat tires there are in a year. AAA is called and changes lots of tires but many more are simply changed by the owner.
My sister had a male roommate go nuts and try to get into her bedroom. She had a gun so he stopped. We moved her out the next day. Why call the police? He stopped when he realized she was armed. What proof would she have had that he did anything. But she would be admitting to brandishing a gun.TripleSix, kemosabi49 and roshea Thank this. -

How folks can call violent crime a "gun problem" instead of calling it out for what it is, a criminal problem is beyond me.
Why is it always the same folks that call violent crime a "gun problem" are the same ones always clamoring for minimal jail time, no bail, probation, parole, early release, catch & release, etc.
A true measure of a civilized society is to see how they treat the violent criminal predators, help their victims, and protect it's citizens... -
