The skinny on...

Here we go.
As soon as I sat down and introduced myself, I was handed a check for 50 bucks. Okay then.

Physical and drug screen immediately.
Tons and tons of paperwork.
You're put in a dorm room like situation. Very clean. They buy lunch for duration of orientation.

This company advertises new automatic Volvo.
I was thrown the keys to a used manual International. 260k miles. Okay then.
Both front and driver facing cameras.

This company advertises 25 bucks per hour plus overtime. The pay is on the drive line only.
2 hours free for loading/unloading. Detention pay after that.

Here's the personal stuff.
Cleared to go early Friday.
Didn't take a whole lot with me, seeing as though it's a holiday weekend and they don't normally run weekends.
Loaded up my truck with my one bag, my plethora of paperwork, and the free box of goodies.
Nothing exciting. Oil, wiper fluid, seals...a free safety vest.

All ready to roll. Grab an empty not at the yard. Little bit of a drive. Get loaded. Barely make it to pick-up on time. Actually late by 10 minutes. Not a newb so of course I sweet-talk the old ladies and luckily got loaded up.

Getting ready to head home for the holiday weekend.
Starts getting a little warm. Turn on AC. Blowing warm air.
Starts raining a little bit. Wipers aren't functioning properly. Motor is burning out. Only work on super duper high. Whatever. That's on me for not properly checking the truck before accepting it.
Maybe things were rushed because of the holiday weekend...I'll take some of the blame for that.

Head back to the shop to get things looked at.
Suffice to say, I was given a loaner on my first day.
No chance to properly clean my truck, as it smelled like wet dog and was pretty dirty.
Stuck with a loaner for who knows how long.


All in all, they seem to try and make sure the drivers are taken care of.
Let's see how this plays out.

If anyone has any questions, I'll answer to the best of my knowledge.
Has potential to be a decent job, but time will tell.

 

I took the loaner and the load home.
Working on getting a load back up to grab my truck.

 

I feel the same way about everything.
Paperwork is all filled out.
Just a metric ton to do during orientation.

Line 4 is unpaid.

1200 minimum weekly guarantee, if one leaves out Sunday by 1500.
Home Friday, so they claim.
Seem to throw money at drivers to deal with problems. Just my opinion from a few days with them.

Don't have the greatest feeling about it. Getting handed 50 smackaroos off the bat definitely felt like hush money.
