Sent them an inquiry last night (Saturday) and got a call today (Sunday). I asked the recruiter to call me back on Tuesday after the holiday (I was inside my house where I get only one bar of signal). She said that since I was not available on Sundays that Melton was not interested in having me drive for them and hung up on me. 15 minutes later when I had a better cellphone signal at the local store, I called the number back and talked to another lady and mentioned the rudeness of the recruiter and how that is basically not great business sense if you need drivers. I asked for them to call me back on Tuesday. I am interested to hear what they have to offer but that phone call reminded me of the rude and ruthless nature of the trucking world. I have been given lots of advice from people who have been OTR drivers about going in different directions for a career and avoiding big carriers. Not my first time trying to find work as a class A driver.

Try Lyle Pierce or Clark's Milk Transport. Both will take new drivers and it will give you that tanker experience if you want to drive for H.O. Bouchard some day. Last I knew Clark's was hiring and paying $18 an hour to haul milk. I drive for Bouchard, and we will not hire without at least a year, because of all the hazmat we haul.

I am closer to Lyle Pierce. I may stop by there place this week.I don't have my hazmat currently. I let go of it about 5 years ago because I couldn't find any work with it. I kept the tanker endorsement. The BMV is shut down, so it will be awhile for me to take the test again and get fingerprints. Thanks for your advice.

They would hire me for Class B if I was willing to get a haz mat and deliver fuel oil. I talked to them last year. They require 12 months experience.
