If it would be hard for someone to make a living with this pay running his own rig I can't imagine how someone would make a living paying someone else to drive his truck for the same pay subtract the drivers pay yet I was offered a job doing just that. Doesn't seem to make sense is all I'm saying.

Like I've said before the dump game is a very good gig but alot of shady people be playing alot of illegal games. Everyone payong their drivers with 1099s, badly maintained equipment, no workers comp, not keeping registration every month on the trucks, if they own the trailers they'll say to the insurance to write the trailers as company owned so its a couple hundred cheaper. The list goes on and on. This isn't a bad gig if you find the right truck for the job get connected with the right people and are willing to fix your own equpiment its a good living. Being in Cali and having to have a 2008 and newer truck makes it harder to fix everything on the truck yourself but what can you do.

I'm pretty sure shaddy stuffs going on literally everywhere unfortunately..
The system we have to work with requires it to make it.
You can do everything by the book but it's much harder and most of the time ridiculous.

You used the word shady which I interpret as criminal which is to me a largely relative word.. Use to be it was criminal to carry around a pair of pliers when everyone rode horses and thus would occasionally cut a fence to get were he was going a bit faster. If you were to call someone a criminal for carrying pliers today well you get the point, some rules are not logical..

Personally I try and do everything by the book the best I can but sometimes it's just not possible.. Politicians making reg's/rules for a field they have no experience in equals illogical rules/laws being made.

Your OP says bf's dad is LEASED to the company offering you the job. Which means they're taking a cut off the top of what he is making. The job pays better than $70 an hour if you're higher up the food chain. That's what they're paying the drivers wages with.

    ChevyCam and joseph1853 Thank this.
