Had an inspection done at that one in Gilroy too. They found a weld in the tank that had a small drip about twice a minute. I had a full load of Jet A at the time.
Officer explained I was put out of service and would be arrested if I leave with the truck. I explained the pump job process I'd need to do before towing the truck.
He agreed I should go ahead and drive it back to my yard.

They got me for that once in Pa. Put me OOS. Said the “ first layer” was chafed. The outer layer is so thin on a rubber airline.Thats why I prefer the old metal type braid type hoses. What a bunch of BS. I always carry a brass repair coupling, for that reason.

So if I throw a gerble in my sleeper and take it back to Freightliner, it will get fixed?

It's awfully hot in the desert

I drove a 2019 Pete 579 with the paccar 13 speed auto .. they ran the air compressor line over the transmission to the primary tank.. truck was 3 months old and I noticed it getting slower at building air up in tanks . Pete dealership said nothing was wrong a week later hose rubbed through and wouldn’t charge tanks. Pete quality is a old thing nowadays..

Don't take a video and post it, that's childish.

... just ask the officer where it is and let him/her show you.

9 times out of 10, he/she will show you the problem, but that one time they can't.

    D.Tibbitt and TravR1 Thank this.

Those Ca inspector do not issue citations. They will bring you into the office where a real DOT cop, a sworn LEO, will give you the ticket. That's always the way it has been for me in California. And I've had several of them over the years. Their scales there with multiple inspection bays are all like that. The smaller scales usually are staffed by DOT cops as well as the rovers and the ones that hang out at the bughouses.

As I said in my comment the FMCSA via part 350 requires the state to designate a lead state agency to set up and run the statewide MCSAP process. If non DOT certified personnel and/or Certified cops are doing inspections then there is some form of an exception of the rules. I will defer to your experience with California because over the years I have been lucky and have never been called back in any of their scales. It does seem kind of weird California is doing this.

The lead state agency there is the California Highway Patrol. All inspections are done by employees of the CHP. Just not all of them are LEOs that are able to write citations.
