How long would you go without AC

Idle the truck? Stop dicking around with some half assed system that doesnt work.

I had the condenser get a hole in it 2yrs ago on a prostar. I wanted to get it diagnosed because it was middle of the summer in Tx. The ahole that owned the truck, said to just run it for the week and he'd fix it that next weekend, which he did. But that week was brutal. I borrowed a thermal temp gun and checked the temps of the truck at the end of the day in Austin and it was 147 deg in there. I told them I was getting a motel room or bringing the truck home. They got me a hotel room that night, he fixed the ac and it took a #### a few weeks later after I had quit for multiple other reasons (new job mainly).

But back on subject. It wont hurt that truck to idle

 

This is a example of people that don’t drive a truck and have no clue what it’s like to sleep in a hot, humid vehicle while they go home to their air conditioned house in an air conditioned car after spending the day in a air conditioned office.

While I live in Ontario, I don’t use the A/C while driving but it’s hot and humid in the sleeper cab during the night.

 

My understandimg was it was a team operation... Meaning that it would be the main A/C...???

Reguardless... I have slept under my trailer before when my A/C took a ####... I finished out the run and got it back to the yard. Then they fixed it. With temps getting as hot as they are now I wouldnt be going ANYWHERE without A/C except toward repairs.

 

I can battle the Cold with warm clothes and blankets.

But living 35 years in SW Florida and I still can’t tolerate one hot humid night of no sleep.

Fellow drivers would balk when I would unhook and idle outside when getting loaded in the dairies.

Closed doors pretty much like being in a sauna with no place to sit but the truck that is radiating all the heat from the exhaust and engine into the sleeper now.

Sometimes it was only 2 hours to get loaded but many times it was 5-6 hours .

World of difference tolerating the 6 hour wait time while you are napping in your ice cold quiet truck.

Just driving all day with the windows down to stay half way cool will exhaust you at the end of the day.

I’d be at Walmart and harbor freight the first day the a/c acted up.

Standup a/c unit and small generator $700 of relief.

 

2 to 3 days depending on load. Either dropping off stop and making an assigned pu or getting the stop off and straight to repair shop. Motel would depend if it got under 80 at night, if company wouldn't pay I may pay one night myself. Any argument and I'd be looking hard for a load to home terminal.

 

After living all over the USA, ac is a must no matter where I’m at.

 

If it's not blowin' ice cold, I don't go.
