The difference between reefer and dry van is that there will be many more times where you will be waiting sometimes all day to get loaded at like meat packhouses and produce houses. Then after getting loaded having to drive during the night. As far as lumpers it is pretty simple, they tell u the amount then u request a check over qualcomm. Basically there isn't much difference other than u have a reefer and you gotta monitor the temps. There aren't really any tricks to it, make deliveries ontime and everything will be simple.

Ahhh, meat plants. Gotta love them. Usually out in the middle of nowhere and the smell can be pretty bad. Don't know how it is with JCT but you could be sitting there long enough to do a reset or even longer. Lot of times tho the load will be ready before the drop dead time.

Another thing about reefers is you ought to do a check on the unit itself. Oil, belts, etc., depending on if its running or not. Carry some jumper cables JIC you have to jump it. Otherwise, Alan is right. Just my 2 cents worth from a rookie driver.

Don't forget the jumper wire in addition to jumper cables. Saved my hide more than once. Saved a few loads too.

So really... how do you guys like JCT? I had a couple of folks I know jump from solo leases at Prime to JCT awhile back, and I haven't been hearing any complaints out of them.
