Minneapolis riots

Minneapolis will probably become like some other cities after this ...companies will get tired of the crime , taxes and decay along with retailers and not rebuild...target had a store on broadway in north Minneapolis and finally got tired of being robbed and closed it several years ago .
North omaha Nebraska is a prime example too ...once vibrant with lots of retail and business the stores and businesses locked up and moved west tired of the crime and blight ....its all lower middle class now with few stores , restaurants other than liquor stores and bars a white guy wouldn't go into .
I grew up in north Minneapolis in the 70s and 80s but even at that point the decline was obvious and the white flight was on .
Sound racist ? Probably but I saw Omaha and Minneapolis deteriorating...with that said I recently moved back to north omaha and my black neighbors that take care of they're property are the best but I wouldnt shop in this area of town due the hateful looks i get from some black people .

Whether they are racist or not can be debated. That they are designed to depress Democratic voters is not open to debate. Too many Republican leaders have openly said as much.

Beyond what voter id laws are or are not it's important to look at what they are perceived as being when we are discussing why a population group feels that rioting is the only option left.

 

Keeping the black population down, dependent on elected officials and voting Democrat is the goal.
Ask yourself who is writing the narrative of oppression and what is their goal.
Perception and reality are not necessarily the same thing. Especially when political control of a group is involved.

 

The cop kept his knee on his neck for 8 mins after he was subdued. Everything else is irrelevant.

 

Freddie Grays death is complicated and the trial of the involved officers show just how slanted justice is.
Between qualified immunity and an officer's right to see any and all evidence BEFORE the officer is required to make a statement getting a misconduct conviction is nigh on impossible.

You are using bad logic when you assume that the reason the victim allegedly used a counterfeit bill is because he is out of work. Who knows how that bill came into his possession?

Working as a bouncer does not necessarily make a person more prone to acting violently. In fact the counter could be argued - that his employment would make him more knowledgeable about police interactions and more likely to cooperate.

While many of these situations are complicated, this one is not. It is clear cut. Bringing up the victim's past and making jokes makes it appear that you are defending the perpetrators actions.

Most of you may be too young to remember what happened after the cops in the Rodney King case were let off the hook. I was there. It was ugly. And scary. History could repeat itself in Minneapolis.

 

Yeah, they even made a couple movies about it.

 

Yeah, you lost me with ID laws being racist. I laugh every time I hear a person say they don’t have the resources to go to the dmv to get an ID yet has the time to go to the local cell phone store to buy the newest iPhone. Even the UN monitors were surprised as to how lax the US voting process is.

 

I’m watching it right now, on Nightline. Meanwhile in Ypsilanti Mi., they’re protesting the cops punching a woman, and tasing her husband, for trying to defend her. It’s all wrong. I’m tired of these Power Drunk Police. They’re not Professionals. Society shouldn’t accept it, as OK. As far as the Looters, they’re just taking advantage of the situation. It’s all uncalled for. And I don’t care if he’s a convicted Felon. He paid his debt to Society. The Laws have to apply to everyone.

 

The poor white Truckdriver that got nearly killed by the Mob, and was saved by a black guy. That’s a good story. Shows not everyone thinks/acts like a dog.
