Ha ha ha!!! Thank you very much for your help! I have applied in other states. PA, OH, and NC. The one in PA is close, but the one in OH is a hellava drive, If I relocated to NC, which is my ultimate goal because of my son, the terminal I have an app in with is still almost 3 hours or better from family. However, I am trying!

You said it right about the economy!!! There are no decent jobs in NC. Very few here in PA. It;s almost a Catch 22; I want to be close to my son, but can't afford to live off the crappy pay the few jobs there are willing to pay. However, here in PA, the jobs I am applying to pay very well...but I am still 500 miles from my son...and a vindictive ex who refuses to allow him to visit me....Layers are expensive....I have one, but need to get more money to her to get her paid up to take it to court. Not to mention, I plan to start a job soon, which means no time off, and time off is what I need to go to court!

They sure don't make it easy on we fathers! Being sodomized in child support is bad enough but not being able to see your kid too often is worse. Sorry to get off topic for a moment....

Well its been just over an year, made it thur the winter, man they was hard.Riding these sets on ice and snow is no joke, but they dont push you.If you feel on the roads are unsafe no problem, pull over and they pay you for it.There very busy now so check out the web site,I don't see a lot of turn over, just guys getting fire for accidents,3 in one year and your out the door, also there is alot of bull you have to put up with just like any other big co.I do tell you FedEx is the big boys on the block now for LTL,putting an hurting on YRC aka yellow, roadway, newpenn .Feel bad about whats going with these guy taking a 15% pay cut,and not sure if they will have jobs.We did get any pay cuts only hold on 401/no rises until march 2010.

TD402, hang in there. Kids need their dads...I know from experience. My mother basically stole me from my father, told me all sorts of lies about him, and I consider myself lucky to have known him a little before he died. But there was too little time with him, and it's one of the reasons I haven't spoken to my mother in over eight years, and never will again. Keep fighting.

I am guessing with my employment history I will need to roll with somone else before applying to FedEx.

My GF's son is aquainted with a O/O with 7 trucks leased to FedEx. Maybe i can get on after driving for him.

One of the guys I went to school with had a friend that is going to put him on driving team. Eventually buying another truck.

I just talked to my GF's son. He is a diesel mechanic for Petro. He talked to an O/O for FedEx. Told him about my prior experience. The guy is running 11 trucks. I have a call into him.

Yep. I got to talk to him today. He is in the process of buying another company. He does take good care of his equipment. Wants drivers to do the same. It will be a few weeks before he is ready to hire anyone. He does a lot of dedicated stuff.

I told him I would check back. In the mean time I'll hopefully be rolling for someone else by then.

It took a year for me, no lie. I'd find a disposable company for the interim, and prepare to jet quick if FXN calls you back.

I should be starting my job with Fedex Tuesday or Wednesday. N after reading about all the posts here I was gonna ask why OTR drivers don't like LTL. Is this why? This is my first non local driving job, so I have no idea why.
