Last night MN took steps to reduce the violence by sending in the troops, and it worked.
Very little happened last night, but I didn't know from the news coverage. I heard basically nothing about MN today until I called me sister this afternoon.
She was on the phone with a cousin last night for a couple hours.
They were both watching 'live' news stations. Laura was watching a local channel and our cousin was watching whatever in CA near Sacramento.
They saw two different things.
My sister saw what was actually happening around Minneapolis/St. Paul, which was everything locked down, maybe a couple small fires that didn't even need the fire department, several arrests of curfew violators - but nothing like the past several days.
What they were showing my cousin was taped footage of what was happening a couple nights ago with the fires and looting, but passing it off as real time coverage.

We had just finished the call when she called me back.
There was live coverage of a tanker truck that had come barreling in to thousands of people on I-35W as they were having a peaceful protest.
I-35W had been closed since 1700, and the truck came through at around 1755.
No one was hurt.
The truck slowed quickly to a stop as it entered the crowd, then as people started climbing all over the truck the driver starts up again for a couple hundred feet before coming to a final stop.
The driver was injured and taken to the hospital, then arrested.
But no one knows the whole story yet as to how the truck got on a closed highway or what the drivers intentions were.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -

Not suprised by that, ultimately whoever was doing traffic control really messed up.
I mean even swift sent out a message in no uncertain terms to push em outta the way. It all depends on if they were posing a threat to the driver. -
Well, to me it did not look deliberate in any way.
I saw the truck heading into the crowd and they scattered, and the truck slowed to a stop.
From a different angle video it showed skid marks from the heavy braking.
Just as he was coming to a stop there was a person that had fallen in front of the right front wheel and the driver pulled left that last few feet to avoid the person.
The driver did not appear to be trying to hurt anyone from what I could make out.
People swarmed the truck, pulling open the passenger door, climbing on the trailer and cab...
That driver was probably scared for his life and it looks like he tried to drive away from the mob until they blocked the windshield by climbing up on the hood.
Why would the driver even slow down if his intent was to hurt people?
If it was me trying to run people over I would have been going through fast and all over the road trying to hit people, not straight and hard braking to a full stop.
The statements from officials are all over the place.
They say he got on the highway as they were setting up the road blocks, but also say that the driver was being deliberate, some how.
Yet the incident happened nearly an hour after the road was closed.
Maybe they missed a sign and/or barrier for one on ramp? Who knows.
Don't know about you, but if I am driving 65 on a highway with no one else on it and then as I am rounding a turn I see the road covered in people... PEOPLE, ?!!!!!!!!!!!????????????
First, it would take a couple seconds to register exactly what I am seeing.
Then brake hard - as that driver seemed to do.
This whole week has been about 'Black Lives Matter' and the injustice of a white cop calmly and deliberately murdering an unarmed black man - and rightly so.
But let's not also forget about the injustice of blaming the truck driver for everything as well.
It may be his fault - but it may not be.
But the first response in everyone's mind seems to be that the driver (or 'person of color') is guilty until proven innocent - instead of the other way around.FerrissWheel and dptrucker Thank this. -
thought it was illegal for pedestrians to be on a freeway?.
so why are they not arrested?.
l.a. news are reporting that driver got thru b4 it actually closed.
I will wait till all the facts come out. b4 beivimg anything the.news or anyone else says.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
In the press conference it was stated that the highways were shut down to make it safer for them to be there.
He also said, 'safer, not safe'.
Baffling in many ways.
And I have been wondering why they would assemble on an interstate bridge instead of in a nice big green park.
So much about what has been going on in the past several months is just baffling to me.
Things have turned upside down and inside out all of a sudden.dptrucker and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
