In 1916 the Irish Volenteers joined with Conellys Citizen Army to form the IRA. On Easter Monday 1916 the IRA siezed the General Post Office and several other strategic points in Dublin in the hopes of beginning a general uprising against English rule in Ireland.

They failed, miserably. While there were some risings in the West Country, almost all of Ireland condemned the Rebellion. That is until the English Army retook Dublin. After the IRA surrender Special Branch officers stripped Thomas Clarke and paraded him thru town. The leaders of the rebellion were tried by a military tribunal which ordered them shot. Men all across the country were rounded up and intered for being "potential Republicans ". Within 6 months the IRA went from being a marginal, reviled group to being heros. The harder the English cracked down, the more the rebellion grew.

Two nights ago Chicago PD raised the bridges over both branches of the Chicago river, then tear gassed protestors, ordering them to disperse? How can the disperse if the bridges are up? Its eirely reminiscent of the 68 DNC where the Chicago PD instigated a riot.

There are best practices in crowd control. Some localities are following those best practices and are seeing little violence. Others, not so much.

I totally agree about the 12 gauge. Pull the plug out and alternate 00 with deer slugs and you have a serious home defense weapon.
Besides, I don't think there's a spookier sound than somebody racking one into the chamber on a 12 pump. If the room is dead silent that's a noise that will get your attention. A smart burglar will hear that and leave.
If the burglar isn't smart I'm still fond of the .45. I carried one in the Army and it's my duty weapon when I work for the Tribal Police. If it comes to the point where you have to shoot you might as well blow some serious pieces off of whatever you're threatened by. I've never been much of a hand with a pistol so if I can get hydrostatic shock going for me, all the better.

I’m glad y’all say this. I was choosing today between an AR15 and a Weatherby 12 gauge for home defense on acreage. I went with the 12 gauge, with bird shot and buck shot.

What’s the strategy on this? I was advised earlier to use 2 bird shots for close range, followed by 3 buck shots. I can carry 5 rounds.

    my buckshot is no. 00

Smith & Wesson SDVE9 is a copy of a Glock 19, only cheaper. At least they used to be... SHTF time is not the time to go gun shopping for sure. Even if you can get a gun, what about ammo?

How can you have a shotgun when shotguns are outlawed by the Geneva Convention?
