I'm thinking of finally getting a dashcam. I'm an electronics ignoramus, but I know people who aren't. :) As fast as things change, I'd like your recommendation for 2020 stuff.

    Here's my criteria I guess:
    1. Drive mostly daylight, except wintertime
    2. Want high definition, able to read plate numbers
    3. I want at least 24 hours memory.
    4. Don't know if it matters, but my drivers window is always down at least halfway between -10°F up to 100°F, and I park outside year-round. I don't run the heater or the A/C much.
    5. I want just one camera, and it will be mounted high in the center of windshield, prob on the side of my CB mounting bracket. (can i hook power up there too?)
    6. Under $200 including a spare memory card.
    7. I rarely go into truckstops, and I'm not worried about nighttime incidents or shenanigans where I park. I want to CMA when I'm rolling.

Thanks in advance. Let me know if I am missing the boat on something. And no, I ain't gonna be the one installing it either. A man's gotta know his limitations.

I think your price is going to be the hard part. I'm going to link you to a site that sells BlackVue Dash Cams, so you can see the entire selection. I'm not affiliated in any way but BlackVue is the best, or one of the best you can get. Ideally 4k would be what you wanted but for your budget 1080p should work fine too, just don't go under that resolution.

You can get carried away buy extra power supplies, hard wired kits, etc. You don't really need all that stuff, but it's there for those who need it.

    Here is the site. BlackBoxMyCar.com

Your expectations are way off. $400 is a drop in the bucket to protect yourself. I use a rexing and it works great. Almost went with a go pro. Go cheap and you'll regret it but your choice.

I dont think there is a need to go expensive. I have this one here for the past few years and it works just great!
Then angle of view is even wider than the expensive ones.

I have a rand mcnally & like it. You can download a app to your phone and download the camera video to it.
It has already paid for itself when a guy crossed the line and hit my trailer last year.
He claimed that I was in his lane but the video showed different.
