The police radio deal was 25 years ago and he wouldn't stay on it but around 30 seconds at a time. I doubt that had the technology back then to locate other than triangulation and he wouldn't stay on long enough for them to do that. You've also got to understand this is a very small town and the guy probably knew all the cops. As far as I know he didn't ever interrupt any emergencies, he would just get on there when nobody else was and start talking random crap.

Every couple years or so they bust a big base operator, more or less as a way of saying "hey guys, we're still here and we still do this." As a truck driver as long as you mind your Ps and Qs you have nothing to worry about as you'll simply be too difficult to find.
So - don't talk or interfere on the ham bands, don't interfere with an airport, don't interfere with the military (the latter two will garner swift action by the FCC if they can locate you as they still take that very seriously for obvious reasons)mike5511 Thanks this.
