Hopper, Dump O/O's & Drivers

Finally I can open my truck hood the right way. I was grabbing the fender and pulling it up. That isn't much fun. Took it in to a outfit that has their own trucks but also do mechanic work. They run T-600's in their fleet. I figured they should know how to adjust them and they did.

 

We have had really good weather this week. Temps have been in the 70's which is cool for around here. Good week for the state fair...went to it a couple of times. Nice break usually I am in the middle of harvest.

Heard from guy today one elevator was taking 18% moisture on corn. Usually they don't take it that wet must be needing corn. Course they will dock the heck out of it for being that wet. Still too early for much of irrigated corn.

 

Talked to trucker who was hauling high moisture corn to feedlot. They want it really wet ...that would be good for hauling because you would be paid for moisture in corn also. Only problem has been long lines at feed lot. Had to wait 4 hours to unload.

 

If they had too they would go 18% otherwise probably go a little lower. It would depend on what the weather was like.The farmers I haul for don't have dryers or storage so they like for it to dry out quite a bit.

At harvest the elevators dicate how much moisture they will take on a crop. If they will only take 16% that's what you have to wait for.
