Ok people, just a little background on me and I could use some input.
So I am close to 50 male, in decent health,so far, but just recently retreated on my own dime thru a dmv approved tester for my cdl class abc with tanker endorsement and passed. I have my med card, and all. Now I have been driving big trucks since I was 18, a 2050A fleetstar with 20 ton equip trailer, but back then and where I lived a cdl wasn't needed. But quit when I was 20. After that went to work for a agricultural company, and drove Ford L9000, and Freightliner semi with timpte grain trailer, that was from 93_ thru 08. Since then they went out of business so can't get hold of owners. I have run my own business all thru this time so no lack in employment ,That being said, so far I have tried putting in application to various local big and small trucking companies, and am being told I need atleast 6 months recent driving experience. I realize there are people who claim to have experience but have none, but in my case it is true for experience. Now even Swift wants me to drive for 200 hours and commit to contract to start driving, it is not what I wish to do. Anyone have any ideas of where to go for a job, I am located in Northern Wisconsin between Superior and Eau Claire. Any help will be appreciated.

Join the club. I've backed up more miles than these recruiters drove forward, over 3 million, ACCIDENT, TICKET FREE, but no driving in the last 10 years. To get a driving job, I was told the same as you. Well, they can cram it with walnuts, and when I moved to Colorado, I relinquished my CDL for ever. You may find an O/O or a small company that will put you on, but today's megas, it's all about insurance, and they just can't take a chance.

Couple companies out of that area, as goldenfan noted, couple that run in and out too.
For experience, you're just going to have to suck it up and go out with a trainer for a couple of weeks.
Won't kill you and you'll get some inside info on how things are run at that company, instead of having to figure it out from scratch. -
