Kustom truck quoted me 3600$ for the cab engine harness with a processor module. Do I really need a completely new harness, why would the 70pin to 40pin adapter not work?
-
Thats what I'm talking about.
-
You need the processor module as the Pete gauges are datalinked and the 40 pin ecms do not support it. 70 pin ecms will talk to the cab and all the gauges will work fine without the module.
spsauerland and 062 Thank this. -
They make 2 different harnesses
1 - 3600$ completely new harness with processor module, from firewall to ecm 40 pin.
2 - 70 pin to 40 pin adapter for 750$ just plug into the existing truck engine harness, but over the phone he told me the ecm would not communicate with the newer cab electronics.
Is he trying to oversell me or is this actually needed? If I have to buy the 3600$ harness its not an issue just wondering why an adapter wouldnt work -
That makes sense, im guessing the module helps the 40pin ecm communicate with cab side electronics
-
Thats above my pay grade. Didn't realize you had the deal where one wire controls all gauges...correct ?
-
yes 06+ peterbilt guages are multiplex they just plug into one another and run off of a cecu
-
This ^^^^^ ...that's why I recommended you use the 2ws engine instead of the 5ek.pushbroom Thanks this.
-
If i had a 2ws i totally would. i was hoping i could convert 5ek to 2ws easily but it will cost as much as the new harness anywaysSuperhauler Thanks this.
