I took the advice of one gentlemen on here and I applied to ups as a seasonal feeder driver. It says shifter on the application. But I guess we shall see what this is all about. I think is advertise $30 an hour.
Selva and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
@noobie flatbedder hope you get hired as a permanent driver. Keep us updated.
Good luck.Buffalonytrucker92 Thanks this. -
Me too, thank you very muchTexas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
That’s very subjective.
Peddle hands at my barn do better than most of the linehaul drivers.
It depends on the terminal and the location. If you have 4 other terminals close by, that’s when linehaul will usually suck.jmz and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Well since Texas tagged me into this, I will give you my opinion on it, number 1 I wouldn't give a bucket of piss for YRCs future or their subsidiaries (Reddaway, Holland and New Penn), things are getting bad there, and we are even getting news updates on their situation here at Saia, if you are a young man and landed a opportunity at UPS take it and run with it, what do you have to lose, out of all the union companies, they are still the most solid in my opinion, with ABF being number 2, now from my point of view being 46 years old now, I am not going to go play some union casual to full time hire game, don't have the time or patience for it, I just hit two years of service at Saia and I have a bid run that #### near grosses $2000 a week now, I was never a casual because Saia doesn't do that, but was extra board for about 1 year 10 months, I am a perfect example of you can start over again at mid life, but luck and unfortunate circumstances for two other drivers ahead of me in seniority played into that (they got fired), I guess what I am trying to say is if I could do it all over again knowing what I know now, yeah I would go union company like UPS or ABF, but in older years or mid life, or you just hate unions, plenty of non union players to go work for, who do pay big money and have bennies that are not that bad either.brian991219, McUzi, Cardfan89 and 2 others Thank this.

Thank you I appreciate it, I'm 27 so maybe putting my time in at ups and proving I'm a great and dedicated worker. Hopefully open sum opportunities for myself.
Hear at the buffalo hub more guy rather be package car drivers rather then feeder.USMC 3531 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
Oh Saias pay rate, yeah on linehaul you will probably start out around..59cpm and top scale is currently. 6850, our July raise to the anticipated .70 something a mile was deferred because of covid crisis, you go to top scale 2 years from date of hire at Saia.Texas_hwy_287 and Buffalonytrucker92 Thank this.

I've applied to saia in Buffalo many times and never get a call back. I know the terminal manager is the old new England motor freight manager. I interviewed with them and turn the job down. I wonder if their bad blood -
Ok cool, three members come to mind here as far as UPS, try to talk to De Trucker, Dabrien or LTL Anonymous, all UPS guys, they got good info, LTL Anonymous is also a former ABFer of 5 years, he has great info on them.Texas_hwy_287, McUzi, MACK E-6 and 1 other person Thank this.
