Well I'm from Illinois so not sure why you would be referring to PA? Unless I'm missing something here. Been up since 3am so not actually with it right now...

I hear you on this truckerdave. I've had mine since 2001. At the time I got it, I lived in Arizona. I had the sleep test done in Phoenix, got the machine in Flagstaff, and went on my merry way. I was never set up with any follow up appointments, or told that I needed to be checked on a regular basis. About 18 months later, I had a machine malfunction, got it replaced at no charge, with no followup visit to a doctor.
I will know if I start having problems again. As a matter of fact, I did, and that is what took me to them in the first place.
Now, after moving back home here to Southern Utah, the local sleep clinic is trying to tell me I need to come in for a recheck every six months. I flatly refused to do it, and they tried to tell me that they would not authorize any type of equipment accessories, IE: filters, masks etc. through my insurance company, unless I came in.
They wanted to replace my machine, "because your insurance will pay for most of it." I told them no way, just to make the needed adjustment on the machine I have. They did so, after an argument.
We sort of put on the boxing gloves, and got it worked out to an annual visit to their office for "evaluation."
In my mind, this is PURE theft.
There are so many rip off artists in the medical profession it is unreal. DO NOT JUST BLINDLY GO WITH WHAT YOU ARE TOLD!LooneyTune Thanks this. -
Don sounds like to me that this new place did indeed just want to soak you for more money. How could your machine be fine and then the minute you move it suddenly needs to be replaced? I agree that the way it's being forced on everyone now, it's nothing but a money maker. I mean again, my cpap machine has made a real difference but this also seems like so much b.s. to go thru

Because the DOT used the study done in PA as the base for their great idea?LooneyTune Thanks this.
-
Oh I didn't know that. I thought it was because of Minnesota starting that b.s. fatigue study a little over a year ago?
-
I have also been profiled for a CPAP study, I feel its wrong and the expence. I feel like getting a lawyer, to see if my rights are being violated. Or is this just another way for others to make money off the hard working driver.
LooneyTune Thanks this. -
I'd say for the most part it's a money grab. Like I said I hear they are going to make this nationwide by the end of next year and EVERY driver will have to get it done. What was their reasons for telling you had to get it done bacon?
