Amazing the driver didnt know to stay off the brakes!
He got on the brakes and lost steering.

I looked at the video at least three times. It doesn’t even looked like he hit the brakes(taillights weren’t illuminated when the tire blew and up to the point of impact).

i only saw the video twice, wasn't looking for brake lights. but it begs to question if he was one handing the steering wheel, or even just a finger or 2 while he was either taking a sip of coffee, or a bite into his sammich, or rewinding his pormo dvd.

Bud A. and lovesthedrive Thank this.

Yeah I looked at it again, my bad call. As buddy said, how many fingers was he using. Bet the driver starts using more than a few fingers now.

Bud A. and buddyd157 Thank this.

Has something like this happened to dump trucks that use tandem steering axles?

We have one tandem/tandem dump truck.

I’ve wondered if they have better control if one tire blew and the other 3 keeps the truck driving more straighter?

    He was just unlucky.
They way the tire blew it became unbalanced to the extreme.
The running surface off the tire stuck in 1 place effectively steering the truck.
    Watch the video.

LumbraX and Bud A. Thank this.
