you get what you pay for, $500 for a truck fridge seems like a lot until you have to buy 4 $150 fridges that last 6 weeks each, never mind food spoilage.

Tim, you gotta figure out what you want and need. You said DC fridge in your first post but your budget of $100ish ain't gonna get you there. You posted a link to a cheap AC model from Walmart. Not the same at all.

I've had lots of these setups in all kinds of trucks. I had a big ### $100 AC dorm fridge from Walmart but it's AC and you need an inverter (with proper fusing/wiring $$$) to run it. Also, it will kill your batteries in a day with truck off. I was surprised that it lasted the year and a half I had it. Sold it on Craigslist for $50 still working.

DC fridges are everywhere nowadays but they aren't cheap. They are totally reliable and use little power. I can leave mine on over a hot 3 day weekend and my batteries won't go down much at all. It's a big $600 Truckfridge though.

If you want a DC fridge then get on Amazon and get an ICECO or Alpicool. These are the cheapest DC fridges you will find, period. There are new names every day but these are the Chinese knock offs of the better brands like Truckfridge, ARB, Engel, etc. They use the same components but are probably made more cheaply. If I were in your shoes this is what I would do.

I have this mini fridge Magic Chef (bought it for $100 at Home Depot) connected to 2000 AMP inverter. This one has lasted me 3.5 years now. I had tried others before but they did not last as long. These mini fridges are not really designed for OTR traveling but I decided to keep replacing them as they go out.

Hey Joe, not to be picky but I think you mean 2000 WATT inverter, not 2000 amp. If you've got a 2000 amp inverter then you must have a little nuclear power plant hidden in your truck to run it. :D
