I drove for stevens transport. you go out for 5 weeks with a trainer and another 3 weeks with another trainee. you make 350 a week before taxes for that 8 weeks. Then you go solo at .26 a mile. They have good equipment, they definatley teach you how to get screwed in the industry. as they screw the heck out of their trainees. I have to admit I hated driving for them but I did learn from them also.

To have a rider that is 18 and younger- You must have one year of over the road expierance. No MAJOR accidents, no adverse citizen reports or markel reports.

To have a rider that is 18 and over- You must have 90 days solo. With no major accidents, adverse citizen or markel reports.

In the case of 18 and over. In no case will Stevens Transport Inc. allow you to anyone of the opposite sex with you unless they are blood relatives and the significant other has signed off on a ok letter.

In the case of 18 and younger no matter if you already have insurance on the child, you will still pay the additional thirty dollars a month for rider insurance

In the case of 18 and older if they already have medical insurance you will be required to provide proof to waive the 30 dollars requirment

gwwheels, your info is a bit out dated. Stevens no longer runs the "Dumb and Dumber" scenario, they send you out with a finishing trainer instead, weeding out a lot of bad 5 week trainers in the process, and you are out for 28 days with the finisher.

    The Challenger Thanks this.

Goin well. I am sitting in Rawlins, wy on my way to Sacramento, but I'm not gonna make it. Monday I will only have about 5.5 hours to drive which will not get me in range to make delivery on the 22nd. I'll drive the miles I can get tommorow and Monday I'll request a repower.

tekk us about some of the miles youve been getting and how things have been going. there so much negative stuff here bout stevens, is it true false etc etc what they take on them once on the inside. do they really nickle and dime ya for everything? i know ur only mkain like .26 a mile but are the miles really there. how r u being treated? ru having to deliver aT 3-4 in the morning like some people say u have to give us some insight on the sinde of how things are workin out there.

    thanks

If you go back and read this thread from the beginning you will find my thread interspersed as they combined it with this one. Most of your questions can be answered reading through it. Stevens definitely has miles for those willing to run them. delivering at all hours is part of trucking, nothing special about doing it here as opposed to any other company. I have yet to notice much nickel and diming, no more so than I do to them. Any company is going to be mostly what you make of it. I came here after reading all the same bad stuff you did. I reasoned that since most people only say something when they are unhappy, the vast majority of what you get on here is negative. Most people don't say anything if they are happy. That is why I started my thread, to come into this with a positive attitude and try to give a factual account of my experiences.
I left the yard in my first truck on the 8th of September, and as of shutting down tonight I have driven 4088 miles in 11 days. and I will get another 400+ tomorrow and at least a few on Monday until I get repowered. Then I'll need to sit until midnight to get more hours back. All in all I am happy so far, had a few rough spots but keeping that positive attitude was able to get past them.

Just remember what Jack Burton says when a 7 foot monster grabs you by the neck and pins you to a wall and asks you if you've paid your dues, "Yes sir, the check is in the mail".

10 brownie points if you can name the movie and actor

"It's all in the reflexes." If you find yourself reacting badly, retrain your reflexes.
