Freshin up the braided strap in the mirrors and put a cpl on each door hinge..Might need to retune a smidge but you will rec/tx a lil better..The duplexer in the dash dont help any either..

Well, ####. I wasn't super happy with the range of the 5' Firestik anyway. How likely is a 7' Firestik going to do much better?
-
Well its not only the ant..Might have a poor coax, might be the stud or if someone has been in the radio....
A taller ant will always help but how much is hard to say cause of the other stuff i mentioned..Whos to say it wasnt the radios and ant from the other side.. -
When you get home or if you stop by wallmart or something, grab an ohm meter...
Install braided straps and clean any painted surfaces that will interfear with a connection...That included thread lock off the bolts used and even in the threaded section the bolt goes in..Do that 1st before you spend more $ and get same results..madmoneymike5 Thanks this. -
Just had a thought....Does the bolt on your new stud tighen via allen key???
If so take a single strand of any small ga wire and stuff it in the hole of allen head bolt..Might be a bit of a pia to keep it in but stuff it and then screw on ant side of coax...Might not be makeing a good connection with ctr pin of coax...
What coax are you useing, where from.. -
COAX is from RCR. Good stuff. I sincerely doubt it's any kind of a problem. -
Mmm..I have never delt with those folks but i just dont get the warm and fuzzys about them..Dont know why but i dont..
I would get that ohm meter and test every freakin connection on the coax, stud and how bracket is mounted to truck...50ohs where it should be and no resistence onnthe other spots..
Its a few hrs of messin around while you par take in some wobbley pops at home...
Look at it all from an electricians point of view...Gotta figure out why your not gettin out further before you throw more $ and not find the issue.. -
I get out just fine with my 7' skipshooter. It's the 5' Firestik where my range sucks, and I bought it from the truck stop.

Well then back to ss and be happy..
