    Hi,

How do you loosen the strap on the winch using the winch bar? I can’t figure it out for the life of me and I’m trying to practice tying the strap down, but can’t get it undone.

    Best regards, John

I've never used a winch on a flatbed but I'm pretty sure you just use the winch bar to take tension off the lock cam, so you can flip it to the release position.

You put the winch bar in the hole, push down on the winch bar until you can lift up the little locking tab on the left and then let go of the winch bar (just kidding). Actually at that point just take your weight off the winch bar.

Thanks guys, I figured it out myself shortly after I posted this, kept trying to pull up instead of down with the bar and trying to loosen the locking tab with my other hand; finally it hit me to just pull the sob down and flip it up; I’m definitely a slow learner lol

I get it. We all start somewhere.

I've done nothing but open deck since I started. No formal training, obtained my cdl on my own, & never have worked at any trucking outfit other than mine own. I still have plenty of head scratcher moments myself, & post load pics for other members here to review if I'm not confident my securement is all it can be..

On that note, I still find the shortbus rig hilarious, & would definitely drive it if I could find one to purchase.
