That's pretty good money with the low pressure trucking lifestyle. For comparison sake, I made 45k last year at Swift driving basically in the same manner.
It was my first full year with the company and I was home as often as possible, for as long as possible. Also took a full month of unpaid personal leave and 2 weeks unpaid bereavement leave.
It's not bad money for an older driver, or anyone who doesn't want to be rushed and pressured all the time. Very easy and laid back.

The thing is, I never do anything just for the money. Money is not my primary goal, and it never has been.
That leaves me a much freer person to simply do what I enjoy doing in the way I like doing it.
That also avoids much of the stress that is usually encountered with this job, or any job.
Go with the flow, and no worries.
If the flow causes too many worries, then I'll simply find a nicer stream to swim in.
For nearly 10 years Swift has been a very nice river for me to swim in.
And even at Swift, that nicer river might simply mean a different DM and/or terminal to work out of.
Because some of both can be a real nightmare.D.Tibbitt and FerrissWheel Thank this. -

45K with the time you took off is very good, especially for being so new to the company at a lower pay rate.LarryTX and FerrissWheel Thank this. -

I take it easy at times, and i go hard at times. I am the type to get in trouble if i am not kept busy.
Arkansas, I had the load reworked this morning. Calculations were correct. Easy in and out of chicago. Unbelievably. Gary had the forklift necassary, but no one to drive it at the time. Unfortunately they werent as lax with the Keys as SLC was.dptrucker and Wasted Thyme Thank this. -
Got called to cover a load for the Target DC in Denton, TX in March. After three months, my DM finally called up there and demanded they stop planning me so I can go back OTR. For the kind of money I've been making up there and not having to deal with shipper & receiver B$, I'm not sure if I want to go back to OTR. I might have to go rogue and stay at the DC until they get sick of looking at me.

I've done Target stuff in a couple different areas and never liked it at all. But if you do, try to stick with it.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Northfield, MN at the J.
My live unload at Post turned out to be a drop, which is what I had been hoping for.
I got here at 1645 and only a few crappy spots remained.
By crappy I mean they have light posts right in the middle of the driveway which makes it nearly impossible to use certain spots.
I had to blind side it, but luckily there were 2 spaces open so I had some wiggle room. Still, it took me 10 or 12 minutes with at least a dozen GOAL's.
My home time is set for Sunday, and I am less than 20 miles away. The next load goes back to IL and from there it should be easy to get me back here on Sunday.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -

Got a load of rails, i aint putting tarp or strap one on it till dark. Love when i have a choice. -
I’m an owner and they aren’t taking any more owners on permanently, all I have to do is shuttle a loaded trailer to Amarillo or Raton, NM and bring the empty back. I have ran up to 3700 miles in one week doing it.Moosetek13 and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
