First of all, calm down. They may very well be trying to see if you’ll do something stupid so they can claim breach of contract and hose you. More likely is the fact that freight is slow and you are now the lowest priority driver.

Second, call them and ask what the plan is. If they give you grief, simply tell them your attorney asked who their counsel of record is, so he can send them opines of everything to speed things up. Calmly, matter of factly, professionally.

But for Pete’s sake, call them and have a man to man conversation with them, first.

    And record it.

Honestly, it seems as if they are trying to punish you. Yeah, fright is slow, but it's not that slow to not get him back to Chicago or even somewhere near Chicago. I never understood why a company would play those games. It's neither beneficial for one side nor the other. As some said, I would just drive back because either way you're not getting your money back so might as well get your money's worth.

Sorry you have to deal with this BS.

Youre getting a lot of advice based on a lot of assuming about what your situation is. None of us knows what your exact situation is and thus are incapable of accurately assisting you to weigh the pros and cons of your next move. Who owns what, who owes what, who signed what, who is liable for what and who can afford what are all things needing measured and weighed with a level head.

Know yourself and know your enemy as sun tzu would say.

If you want better advice to help you weigh the options, youll need to give a clearer picture of the situation. I do suggest you maintain your privacy while doing so.

This is a scary scenario. Turn in notice stranded in truck. If you leave it you are screwed. If you drive it you could get arrested. What a dilemma! Please name this company so we can avoid it forever.

Btw. I have hired on and left Jb hunt 3 times and I gave notice each time with no hassle and they still want me back. A reputable company would never do this to you.

Are they paying you anything for the time that you have been sitting? What you dont WANT is for them to put that you abandoned the truck on your DAT report. Ask to speak to a supervisor

    BEWARE..!!!
I can honestly tell you that some of the replies you are getting come from "drivers" that do not understand "All" the consequences of moving a company Truck with out the "proper dispatch". If you really want to leave the company, 1) You already gave a "two week notice". 2) Place a formal "Home request" thru the company "system". 3) Wait it Out.
Or...?? **Summer is the time to make money in "Trucking"!
Again..; Beware of the imput you get on this or any forum and if you are planning to stay in the bussiness, work with a "High set of moral and bussiness standards", taking in consideration your position and also the company's position.
    Good Luck..and Happy Trails..!!

By getting paid on 1099 you are classified as an "Independent Contractor" You cannot be a "company driver" and receive payment through a 1099 pay system, I know there are hundreds doing this, but it is illegal. By you being an "independent contractor" you have 100% control of what you do.
The next job you get, do not go to work under a 1099 system. Do you realize the possible consequences if you are involved in a serious accident? Now, if you are an owner/operator, it is entirely different, but you cannot be a company driver and an independent contractor all at the same time.

looking to buy my first truck, I've been a driver for a number of years over the road, I think i'm ready to make the jump from company too o/o with the company i currently work for, they will handle most of the permit, ifta, registration and other paperwork aspects for me, and its my understanding i can get the bobtail insurance through them. I've read plenty of threads on what to avoid when buying a used truck, but the question I have i haven't seen addressed yet

On most truck ads it shows the mileage, but it also shows ECM mileage, and my question with this truck im looking at, is the ECM has been replaced and it has 0 miles on it, so I'm wondering from the owner operators in here would you avoid a truck just because of an ECM change (possible problem child truck), or would you see that as a plus ... a part that won't need to be replaced anytime soon?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Yeah, use a high set of moral and bussiness(sic) standards. Just like this company is doing with this driver, taking the high road, by getting him back to turn the truck in after he's given notice.. How long should the gentleman "wait it out"? Couple more days? A week? Longer? Oh, the dilemma.....
OP, I would make sure the fuel tanks are filled, and head 'er west. Are you on a L/P,? If you are, you're buying the fuel anyway, correct? Company gave me any grief, I might say "well, I can bring the truck back to you, or I can disconnect a few things, and you can come looking for it. Your choice".
