Simply judging off the way the truck acted when it died, the bone dry davco fuel filter, and what I did to get it running again...
I lost fuel pressure... Now WHY did I loose fuel pressure?
I was working off a hunch. I had heard (cant remember where) that sometimes, but very rarely, the o rings on davco filters can for no apparent reason start leaking air INTO the filter housing... Which eventually causes the fuel level in the filter to drop below the filter output port (which is exactly what I saw when I checked the davco immediately after the truck died).
Hence why I disassembled, checked & lubed o rings, reassembled, and refilled the davco. I wasnt sure if that was the problem or not... But I knew for sure I had lost fuel pressure, and I figured this was an easy thing to try... If it didnt work I wasnt any worse off.
I lucked out and it did work. I am now 367 miles farther down the road and havent had any problems. Truck is running as good as ever.
So in short... I lost fuel pressure due to the fuel pump sucking air past a filter o ring.InTooDeep, lovesthedrive, MACK E-6 and 3 others Thank this. -

Sounds like the sign by the swimming pool telling swimmers not to breath underwater.....isn't that what "through" means????650cat425, InTooDeep, WesternPlains and 3 others Thank this.

550 from Durango to Montrose is only slightly worse than taking 146 out of Cortez to 62.650cat425, WesternPlains and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

But pepper spray isn't allowed in Canada, at least crossing the border with it. It always made me wonder if it was wise to park at the top of Crowsnest Pass overnight. To me, that would be about as terrifying as it gets having a grizzly ripping the door off your truck when you're asleep because it smells food.650cat425, WesternPlains and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
