So Monday I had to have the A/C compressor replaced on my 11' Prostar due to the clutch deciding it didn't want to go to Little Rock with me lol.

By no means am I blaming the shop that did the work, I think they did an excellent job with a very reasonable price and hospitality. Exit 37 truck repair in Arkansas preformed the work. I list this information because going back to them is not an option for me unfortunately.

For some crazy reason the belt appears to slip around the groved hub, and clutch won't spin. I can shut the truck off and hand turn the clutch. Fire the truck back up and same issue. Shut the truck off and give the main pulley of the compressor a few, very gentle and I'm serious about gentle "tings" on the pulley, I can start the truck back up and the compressor will run for an undetermined time just to stop again at random and repeat the situation. I've thought maybe a bad tensioner but I don't not get any belt smoke or squeal, chirp, or wobble in the belt. Belt is nice and tight and not terribly old either. No other pulley has this issue either. It's like the compressor is too slick?

The inside part of a/c pulley has a bearing inside of it and will spin free when a/c is off, pull the belt off and ck if the part that belt goes on will turn free?If it does go get a socket or wrench and turn a/c comp. to see if it turns with/out lock/up at places, trash in lines may have got in new comp. and made it burn up?

Yeah, it does just sound like the compressor clutch is engaging and disengaging as it's supposed to. When the ac is switched on, it will run until the body controller senses refrigerant temps are cold enough to shut it down. There is also pressure sensors for it too. So the ac compressor doesn't normally run 100% solid all the time. Is the ac not cooling?

With the belt off everything is smooth non-issue there, I thought maybe the compressor would be locked up, I know some brands are notorious for it, such as everco and some four seasons. *Not sure what mine is* but like I said everything seems to free spins when it should.

On a dead start it still won't pull the pulley for some reason, once I tap on the clutch and restart the truck the clutch will engage and everything will run as normal for a few moments then it kicks off. I don't think it should be, all tests have been when outside temp is 90+ and off of a dead start it should come on atleast without tapping. Could I possibly have a loose connection to the hub I've tried moving wires around with no luck

That is possible. Without tapping it, try to wiggle the wiring and connector to see if you can find a bad spot.

So oddly enough I think the belt is old, not sure how since most other times I would have a squeek of typical wear signs on the belt. Time and time again I've been able to get it to start running by using a belt conditioner. Like I said the belt looked perfectly fine and everything. Boss is going to have me get a belt in the morning. Crazy what the heat will do to these trucks
